While that's cool to hear, no real insight there. Think they may be negotiating soon really tells us nothing. TD's probably got a value on him as per the usual, but I don't think it's going to be good enough. We probably won't be willing to give him a deal like the Browns gave Jackson.

A LB like Lofton is instrumental to a long-term successful defense IMO.

I agree. As much as people dont value LB that high in the draft or on the defense as a whole because "they are easy to find" is IMO an excuse to replace a LB who has been great for our D and one of our best most consitent players and the best LB weve had since early years of Keith Brooking, I just can't see us not bringing him back relying on Dent, an unprooven ST player to anchor the middle of the defense.
Not only would we lose a great MLB but we also lose our defensive captain and the man who makes the calls. Yes Id love Mario on this D, but I see a big setback without Lofton anchoring the middle esp now that were already losing Abe.

The Falcons resigned DeCoud for some reason. Hopefully it isn't too much money. He'd be a fine backup/ST player, but I've had enough of him starting.

Might have been a little too optimistic of us to hope he wouldn't return as a starter. For whatever reason Mike Smith has a raging erection for DeCoud.

I mean, I suppose he's got some good ball skills and can cover a bit, but watching him whiff on so many tackle or more frequently take absolutely horrendous angles has just been a source of constant frustration.
I'm going to be highly annoyed if Kroy and DeCoud get overpaid because they are "our guys".

I have to agree, if we didnt overpay im cool with it, but that all depends on their roles and the price tag. We need upgrades not "familiar mediocre players"

5/17.5 which I was upset with, until I saw 4 million guaranteed. Basically, it's put up in the system and get solid pay, or you're gone. I can live with it.

I mean, it's not huge money, but I can't help but feel it could have been better spent elsewhere. We will see I suppose.

I was pretty sure we would bring him back. This does not surprise me at all, he's a fine player. Definitely could be improved, but he's still ok.

In today's NFL, that's not much of a contract. Irrelevent except that if we don't upgrade the position we still have a decent player back there.

So with FA looming, I havent heard the slightest thing about us even having interest in Super Mario. Not sure if were just laying low or what, but I would think there wold at least be something out there.
Are we really going to rely on Edwards, Biermann and Sidbury? That sounds like disaster to me

With Harry Douglas a free agent, we're going to either need to bring him back, sign a player such as Eddie Royal, or grab one somewhere in the draft.
Not sure which I prefer, but I'm leaning a draft pick.

I'm a big Eddie Royal fan, as I'm sure you are. I'd love to get him here. If we want someone who's going to make an impact, it isn't coming from the draft. Unless you think a 5th rounder or later is going to come in and make a mega difference. I think the most likely case is Weems becomes the #3 though.
Interesting notes:
Falcons worked out Lofa Tatupu.
Falcons are interested in Kendall Langford... really not a 43 player at all. Maybe we'd try and use him like the Giants use Canty?

Just looks more and more that we are not bringing Lofton back. I don't think the Falcons want to pay him as a top LBer if Nolan considers him a 2 down player.

Oh, I love me some Eddie Royal. But with RW, JJ, TG, and the backs we have, our number three isn't going to receiver very many touches. Making it a low priority IMO.
McDaniels killed Royal's production. He would have been 90+ receptions each year with Cutler at the helm.

We just signed Lofa Tatupu. Contract details aren't out but I'm sure we aren't paying him too much. I'll miss Lofton, but this was the right move to make for us. We'll probably make a huge push for Mario Williams now.

I'm going to miss Curtis.
But we're going all in for Mario my friends. Get ready.

I hate seeing Curtis go, I think Lofa is very similar to him and much cheaper. We also restructured Dunta's contract to save money for this season, just another indication we are going for Mario.

With Lofton gone, gettin Mario is a must. No way around it, pay him whatever he wants, hes gonna produce bigtime for at least another 5 years.

Also, anyone think there is any chance Fleener falls to 55?

I don't think it will happen. He is really ahead of the pack as far a TE's go. I think he will run a good time at his pro day which would make him a late first, early second rounder.
