Spikes on Trade Block
Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Buffalo Bills are willing to trade linebacker Takeo Spikes.
Spikes, signed by the Bills from Cincy in 2003, missed most of 2005 with a torn Achilles' tendon and was generally ineffective in 2006.
Spikes is signed through 2008. He is scheduled to earn a salary of $4.5 million ins 2007, and a salary of $5 million in 2008.

We're already getting rumors of him back to Cincinnati.
Too old and he burned his bridges on the way out, I want nothing to do with him.

Won't get much for him. Maybe a mid-late round pick at best.

I rather keep him.
It takes more than 1 year to recover from a torn Achilles' tendon. imo

Him and Corey Dillon were the only ones that made watching the Bengals worth it for a few years there.
I was dissapointed when he left.

So with the release of Simmons I am guessing you're keeping Thurman.
Too bad about Pollack.
I was expecting big things from him.

Is Buffalo basically rebuilding without actually admitting it?

Well lets see.
Not re-signing best DB
Not res-signing best LB
Trying to trade best OLB
Trying to trade best RB
Almost looks like it. Does it not?

IMO the loss of Simmons has no impact. We still would've likely started Landon Johnson/Ahmad Brooks/Rashad Jeanty even if Simmons stayed so he was really for depth.
The front office has been tight lipped about it and I honestly have no idea what will happen. I'm assuming if/when he gets reinstated he will probably play preseason with the 3rd team (that's what he had to do last year) and will be way down on the depth chart. I'm hoping that eventually he will get his act together and become our MLB and move Ahmad to SLB.

They'll be lucky to squeeze out a mid-late 4th rounder for him. I'm definitely not surprised that he's up on the block now.

Its true. I'd like to give TKO another year, but even so far removed from the injury I'd say Crowell has surpassed him for us.

I am going by who stands out when they play the Pats. And the man always on radar seems to be Fletcher.

Also on the block for the Bills: JP Losman, Lee Evans, Aaron Schobel, and Angelo Crowell.
Too bad Fletcher is a FA or they could have traded him too.

The next Jerry Seinfeld?
I doubt we trade Willis or TKO.

You sir are hilarious...
Spikes is due a huge roster bonus and doesn't fit the Cover 2 very well. He also publicly called out the organization and had some trouble recovering from his torn achilles.
I think we should keep him around for one more year if we aren't going after Clements, Steinbach or Dielman because of our stupid "cash to the cap" FA strategy. However, if we can get a 2nd rounder for him I say pull the trigger.

Clements - too much money...we want to spend it elsewhere.
Fletcher - didn't fit the cover 2 very well coverage wise and didn't attack the ball in tackling. he barely gets any TFL, many of his tackles come after the ball carrier has run 4 or 5 yards. age as well. and there is no way he is our best LB. i think he's our 3rd best.
Spikes - again not our best olb. see angelo crowell. id rather not trade him but the organization doesnt seem to like him that much. if we can get a 2nd rounder though no doubt i would deal him.
McGahee- very overrated RB, fathered 3 children with 3 different women (not high character which marv levy values very highly), suggested the bills move to canada, thinks he still has the speed he had prior to his knee injury and tries to break alot of runs to the outside to no avail, rarely hits a hole, doesn't seem to like buffalo at all, didn't bother learning the scheme, not an exceptional blocker, etc...

Can Takeo make the switch to ILB or is he strictly an olb?
