Scounts Inc.: "Top 20 Impactful Rookies"
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3620476
I know that a lot of folks don't think so highly of scouts inc., but it's an interesting topic for discussion regardless.
Lots of 1st rounders, although that's not suprising given how early it is.

Not really. I would actually disagree with Forte being #1. He has a lot of carries, so he's going to get a lot of yards, but he's a plodder for the most part.

He never specified if it was positive impact, which explains Matt Ryan's rank.

when you click the link, the top says "you don't have to be draftd high to make an impact" yet 15 of the 20 names there, are first rounders...
espn fail

Keith Rivers has not been a three down player. I stopped there.

I'd put John Carlson on there over Lawrence Jackson, but Jackson has played well.

I have to disagree with the Chris Long view. He hasn't at all looked impressive and his motor is the only thing going for him. He is looking like another Grant Wistrom and Justin Smith instead of a Gaines Adams, Mario Williams, Julius Peppers and other top DE drafted at the DE spot.
I think his hype and homerism from his college days are skewing the views of the scouts and media still. It's becoming very annoying, especially with the amount of utter crap Mario Williams got at this point in his rookie year. As far as the ESPN hype makers were concerned Mario had already had the bust label attached to him and it just a matter of time before he was cut from the Texans and out of the league. But C.Long gets a pass on looking completely irrellevent in the pass rush and in run defense. Just watch the games, he is completely over matched against solid OLT's and he doesn't get any pressure with his first step and he gets inside the LT's chest way too often and gets swallowed up. He won't, let me repeat this, he won't be that 13,14,15 or 16 sack guy ever. He is a 10 sack guy at most, thats not enough from a #2 overall pick, it just isn't.

JordyZZZZZZZZZZzZZZZZZ automatically makes the Packers the best team EVER even if we are 2-2...Only reason is because we don't give him the ball every single play. So how the **** do you leave JordyZZZZZZZZZZzZZZZZZ off the list?

The fact the list includes Jonathan Stewart and his whopping 49 yards per game rushing average, Joe Flaccos outstanding 65.9 QB rating with 150 yards per game passing and whole 1 TD (2 INTS) over 3 games make this list a complete joke.
Where are Chris Horton, Kendal Langford and a handful of others that deserve to be on this list?

As I said earlier, all this guy has to say is, "I never specified if the impact was positive or negative".

They'd have to do a Top 200 list before they got to any impactful Lions rookies. :(

The best rookie thus far has been Jeff Otah. He won't ever win ROY, but if you catch the opportunity to watch the Panthers play, put the eyeball on him. I understand he is on the right side, but he is absolutely dominating the way Marcus McNeill did a couple years ago.

Hey "#10", would you mind writing up a Panthers rookie report in my "Rookie" thread?
Here's a link: http://www.draftcountdown.com/forum/...ad.php?t=25640
I would love to see your take on your 2 1rst rounders and some of the hidden guys that many people don't know about.

A lot more offensive players on that list than defensive it looks like.

That's because everyone that has the good sense to watch ESPN knows that offense is important and defense isn't.

well Flacco is the starting QB of a 2-1 team, I was surprised to see him top 10 but I think he should be on here.

Beat me to it. You guys got a major steal with him. Even though he is on a division rival, I want to see him succeed. Its the underdog in me that really wants Horton to succeed, and I hope he keeps it up, just not so much this week, haha.

This coming from a Ravens fan. What about his 65 QB rating makes him worthy of being a top rookie? Is it his whole 1 TD pass? He has done nothing at all worthy of being on that list. NOTHING.
Even Ryan Leaf lucked into an 2-0 start.

Its not about the best rookies its about the biggest impact. Some people seem to mix that up
