This is going to make Sniper & the other fans of that school with the funny-looking yellow-striped helmets very happy.
Casserly reported today on CBS pregame show that the RichRod buyout drops to $2.1M (down from $4M) in January. Chump change for a huge megaprogram like Michigan to dump Rodriguez who is < popular with the Wolverine alumni & fanbase.
Pencil Harbaugh back to the Ann Arbor hometown. Or at least down to 2: back home with the Wolverines, or stay in his new Bay Area home for the 9ers job. Yes the DeBartolo/York family has put the full press on him, maybe will not come close to the bottom line on the Michigan offer. I'm thinking the max the 9ers can afford is $3.something/yr. b/c they have so much $/effort/sweat/political clout tied up in that forthcoming new Santa Clara stadium that John York wants so badly.
Harbaugh will cost thrice the $2.1M per yr. or damn close to it, & God knows what kind of guaranteed bonus $, but it would be worth it to dump Rodriguez alone wouldn't it? Recruiting would improve 300% almost overnight, no more decommits......

I can't imagine a college team paying more than an NFL franchise for a head coach.

Harbaugh said something about wanting to be the highest paid college coach, that would be approximately $5.5-6M/yr. to top #1, who's Mack Brown at Texas who's like $5.125M/yr.

I'm sure he'd like to, but it's not going to happen at Michigan.
Mack Brown won a national championship, Harbaugh hasn't even won the Pac 10.

I agree with this, but i could see him really making a push. I could see him around the 5 million dollar mark, but doubt seeing him go ahead of Mack right now.

Could also comp. on an incentive laden contract that would push it into that range should he start winning championships/beating OSU.

Michigan State offensive coordinator Don Treadwell has been named the Miami University head football coach.
Treadwell, a former Miami player and assistant coach, will replace Michael Haywood, who left earlier this month to take the head coaching position at Pittsburgh.
Treadwell, 50, was a Miami wide receiver from 1978-81 and coached wide receivers and running backs under Randy Walker from 1992-93.

That's a really good hire for Miami, tough blow for Michigan State.

Other then the fact Weis sucks at developing collegiate QBs into even remotely competent NFL players.
