Exactly. Meyer is a great salesman and he throws a quote like that out there as insurance for down the road if he is looking for a job. No harm in the quote but it gives the ND fanbases hope and him long term leverage.

I think he said he turned it down because they wouldn't let him do what Lou Holtz did and bring in a kid or two that didn't have grades to get into ND . Basically he liked his chances of winning at Florida better.

Notre Dame? The guy could've went there when he went to Florida but he turned them down. Meyer grew up in Ohio and his family were all huge Buckeye fans. Plus people have told him I heard back when he was at Utah that ND is not a place that is easy to win at. I've always heard from behind the scenes people that OSU was his real dream job. Either way, he wouldn't leave OSU for ND probably ever, maybe NFL or retirement.

Why would he lie about ND being his dream job?

I heard the same. Notre Dame wouldn't bring down their academic standards to allow Urban to bring in "his recruits." Then again 20-30 arrests or whatever the ridiculous number he had under him at UF wouldn't fly at ND either.

Texas A&M has decided to fire Mike Sherman... while he was on the recruiting trail. Savvy move by A&M. Reportedly, they want Kevin Sumlin. But now you have to ask, who can and, most importantly, will offer more money for Sumlin - Arizona State or Texas A&M?

Edit: Just received word that Kevin Sumlin will be the new head coach at Texas A&M

If it's Kevin Sumlin, I'll be okay with it, but this isn't as shocking as one might think. He was on a short lease last year until we had that 5-6 game stretch, but there were far too many games this year that we should not have lost.

I have a pretty good A&M source so I'm taking his word on this. Said it will be made official after the C-USA championship game. We'll see if he proves correct.

It does seem that Arizona State has pulled off the Sumlin bandwagon, which I'm surprised to see. If that proves true then I see them settling for an underwhelming hire unless it's someone like Dave Christenson from Wyoming, who would be a damn good hire. He's really turned around Wyoming.

What a joke...after this season in Indy it just confirms what a crap coach this guy is. I cannot imagine him on the recruiting trail.

The Sumlin hire would be nice for A&M. I would love to see his potent offense succeed in the sec. I think they are going to struggle for the next few years though.

^For those looking for a legit source. Also, he provides some nice analysis.
From the article... If somehow Sumlin falls through to Texas A&M, Kirby Smart would be my next choice. Before Sumlin, I felt he should be A&M's first choice if Sherman was fired. I tweeted about that yesterday before the firing and listed Manny Diaz and Garrick McGee as the others who I thought would be good fits.

I think Sumlin would be a great coach and A&M and elsewhere but I question his ability to win without Case Keenum. Sumlin also had the benefit of having Dana Holgorsen as his OC for his first 2 years. The only year Sumlin was without both he went 5-7.

I get the Troy Calhoun love but Air Force is his alma-mater, he played QB there, and, as far as I know, hasn't expressed any desire to leave.
