Obviously Defensive End is a need that has to be addressed in round one or two. MLB has to be addressed and so does the offensive line.

I am thinking that KC will be content with TT as the QB for next year. But do they draft Stafford or Bradford is they are available at their pick in the 1st round?

I don't think they do. I think they address the pass rush first. Obviously it's no secret that I love Brian Orakpo at this point, but I think we give Tyler a shot and draft some players to help mold that defense. A pass rusher is our #1 priority and MLB is not far behind. We can't get after the QB and we can't stop the run. We're DEAD LAST in total defense and that has got to change for us to go anywhere next year.

Tony G's effect on the draft? Will he be traded for a late 1st/2nd or what?

I think Tony's status will depend on how the new GM looks at him

I still want Orakpo or Brown for us and hopefully James L in the second if he drops that far, which some are thinking he might when all the juniors have declared.

And I think Tony is a bit more optimistic now that we have a QB who can play a little in this league. I hope he finishes his career here in KC.

James L or Brandon Spikes will be available. I like Curry, but we do have a big hole to fix with our Pass Rush. The only problem is that I dont think we'll get a lot of value for Orakpo picking in the top three. Then again, the guy has a title of "workout warrior" and he actually has production.
I did read that TG signed a year contract with us. He's staying, especially with Thiggy under center. But, I really would like to draft Nate davis in round three just in case(Inevitable) he doesn't work out.

I will be writing up somethng at the end of the year about signing Alex Smith to a 2 year deal so we dont have to draft a QB at all. Alex Smith backing up Tyler in that kind of offense would be nice. Alex in a gimicky offense works. May sound moronic but I think it is something KC should explore. Cut Quinn and Croyle and sign Smith for a 2 year deal for small dollars if possible. The I-Gun spread offense reminds me alot of Utah's offense. They were different yet the reads and development of plays is very simliar.

I like this line of thinking, though if we don't stay with the "spread" we might look at someone else. Smith I do belive has some talent and could use a change of scenery where the expectaions are not as high.

Exactly. Come in to TC blank salte and if we do run that spread it will bring competition into camp for Tyler. The guy has talent, he is young and was just set up for failure in SF IMO. But Ill be looking at films of Smith at Utah over the next few just to see how his reads where etc.

But if Chan is gone then I'll scratch that whole idea haha

Well I doubt that if Herm stays, Chan will be kept...

I think we have to kinda wait and see who our new staff is before we make any bold predictions.

Assuming both Stafford and Bradford come out, I think there's a very good chance we take the one that falls to us at #3.

Thigpen is a nice player and played well for us, but I'm not sure he's someone you build a team around, and he probably won't do as well when Gailey is gone.

I hope to god it's Stafford we take if we end up taking one. I don't like Bradford as a prospect at all. I don't like most Big 12 QBs. All offense, from the gun, throwing it all day. They're not ready for the responsibility that comes with being a starting quarterback for an NFL team.

This might sound a bit crazy, but I would take Greg Hardy regardless of draft position...Guy sounds like a stud.

Don't you guys' think that Alex Smith failed because he was a success of the system? I think Urban Meyer's offense made Smith look really,really,really good. It does that for QB's. I.E. Tebow.

Well, you have to remember, that team had(has) very LITTLE talent around him. The offensive line was really bad and he didn't have many weapons to work with. You can't draft a QB #1 overall in a position like that. You're not helping him or your organization to succeed, it's just stupid.

I think you build the offensive line/defensive line through the draft, get those two units to be strong, and then you bring in the franchise signal caller you want unless it's a CAN'T MISS prospect and to be honest I'm not sure Alex Smith was that can't miss guy. I certainly never saw that kind of quality in him but then again I'm not an expert so..

I think by the time April rolls around, most people will view Stafford and/or Bradford as a can't miss QB prospect. Stafford has every thing you look for in a QB prospect; I think he's a rich man's Cutler, and while some may scoff, I think Elway could be a legitimate comp. The kid is really, really good.

Wow! That's saying quite a bit about Stafford. I can see that though. In the games I watched, he seemed to be a wee bit antsy in the pocket, then again, his line was pretty bad/young wasn't it? I don't think Bradford will be very good. The whole shotgun, surrounded by talent, over-hyping has really made me leery about the guy. It's pretty much the same logic when it comes to Thiggy as well. I mean, the guy has it all, Big Arm, Mobile, great leadership. Then again, that' when he's in a shotgun and has a lot more time and a better visual of the field. And when in the pro-set, Thiggy hasn't performed that well........I don't think it'll matter, Bradford will be long gone before we pick.

There's two ways to look at the whole building your team then get a qb thing. I don't think Indy had a great line when the drafted Manning. Come to think about it, your team is probably in shambles if your picking that high to get a franchise qb..... Our line has improved quite a bit over the season though. I still think we need to get a Center and Right Guard. I'd like to see Richardson as our Right Tackle. I haven't heard to many good things about him though, but Herb Taylor could make it as well(might not be the mauler he needs to be though).
For Right Guard I'd like to see us take Herman from LSU, I dig the guy's hair and he seems like a stud. Either him or Alex Mack to move Rudy over to RG...does anyone think I'm like a kid on Santa's Lap "I want this, and this, and this...." sorry bout' that.

Indy actually had Tarik Glenn and then went and got Jeff Saturday the next year (but he didn't start a full season till 2000).

So it went:
1997 = Tarik Glenn
1998 = Peyton Manning
1999 = Jeff Saturday (not playing full time till 2000 though)

And their line wasn't horrible anyways (thought certainly not great).

But also, bonus points to Indy for grabbing Marvin Harrison in 1996 and letting him develop before getting Peyton Manning too.

If you guys happened to get your franchise QB, you'd be following a similar situation to the Colts in respect to the fact that you guys got your receiver (Bowe) in 2007, and LT (Alberts) in 2008 and then your QB in 2009 (The colts went receiver (Harrison) in 1996, LT (Glenn) in 1997, and then QB (Manning) in 1998).
