I said a little while ago if Ware had 20 sacks he would win the DPOTY. I'm going to stick to that.

And I'm the Homer.

It's close because Ware and Harrison are both players that have to be gameplanned around.

Harrison isn't a "Flashy" Player but the guy produces non-stop on the best defense in the league.

It's funny you can make statements like that but if someone else makes a Statement similar that:

"Harrison and it's not even close" You'll be all over them.

I'd say it's pretty close when you have guys like Dungy/Simms saying that not only should Harrison be DPOY, but MVP.

Pretty easy imo when Harrison is more of a factor, through the entire game, and makes bigger plays.

But I expect Ware to win it because he plays for the Cowboys and has 20 sacks or so.

Three or four weeks ago, I would have voted James Harrison, but Demarcus Ware has solely driven that defense for the last couple games, while James Harrison was owned by Jared Gaither throughout that game against the Ravens.

My Vote:

1st Place: Demarcus Ware
2nd Place: James Harrison
3rd Place: Albert Haynesworth
4th Place: Joey Porter
5th Place: Ed Reed

James Harrison was Guillotined quite a bit against the Ravens.

Define bigger plays? And have you seen every Cowboys and Steelers game to make an informed decision on who is "more of a factor". That's such BS, it's a lame excuse by a closet Cowboys basher.

Before you reply by just saying i'm a homer, i'll say that i'd respect your (or anyone else's) opinion should you provide objective analysis and evidence to argue your point, but when you come out and spew crap like that, it gets annoying.

DeMarcus Ware, and it's not as close as people make it out to be.
Or does it only apply to those that have a differing opinion or those that would be more objectionable (Ie Geo)?

And as you Bash Geo.... Have you actually seen EVERY Steelers game so you could declare that it's Ware and not even Close?

I'd have a hard time believing it.

I've stated my thoughts on both previously in multiple threads, and i really don't feel like starting all over. It was you who i discussed them with, so i'd imagine you would know my stance already. I've yet to read anything extensive on any of Geo's opinions, which is why i singled that post out.

No, i have not seen EVERY Pittsburgh game, but i'd say i've watched 7-10 of them this year. That's a good chunk of games to base an opinion on, which is what i did before. Not some random BS like "he has more impact through the entire game, and makes more "big" plays".

I think the Cowboys performance today will push Demarcus Ware out of contention for DPOY, which is a damn shame if you ask me.

I'd put Darrelle Revis up there... he was a shutdown corner all year.

My vote would go to Ware, with Ed Reed as #2

I agree, but I don't like 3-4 OLB's winning DPOY - especially when they're in schemes like Dick LeBeau's and Wade Phillips'.

I believe that was because they started chipping Ware pretty much all game long. Hell if i know why they teams don't do that all game long anyway.

Is that so? Why don't you explain why OLB's in a 3-4, especially in Pittsburgh's or the Dallas scheme, aren't worthy of being considered the defensive players of the year?

It's the homer hypocrisies that get on my nerves.

When Joey Porter went to Miami, the Pittsburgh fans were scoffing at those who thought either that the Steelers were losing someone who couldn't easily be replaced or that Miami was getting a great OLB. They credited Pitt's defensive scheme for making Porter so successful, and not Porter himself. When Harrison had his huge game on MNF, Steelers fans were able to say "I told ya so." Why does this mindset not pertain to James Harrison? Because he's still on the Steelers roster. If Joey Porter is still in Pittsburgh and Harrison is on another roster, how big of a dropoff is there for that defense?

How do you think Ware would perform if he played for Pittsburgh and not Dallas?

I know I'm preaching against reality. They're both great players, and shouldn't be faulted for performing well in the scheme they have to play in. DeMarcus Ware nearly broke the sack record, and Harrison is having a great year on the best defense in the NFL. But, forgive me when I call BS when people start saying that they mean the most to their teams.

I didn't think you can argue against reality but I agree.
