Capps would fetch a guy like Joe Savery from the Phils system and maybe another prospect. Mid level pitching prospect with #2 or #3 potential.

Yeah that is my main argument when Sawx fans look at our team and are like, they are owning us, while they only have a 1 game advantage. I mean if we end tied, then yes its a big difference, but its all about coming out on top of the division

Pftt. Matt Capps. You can have Mike Gonzalez yall. Capps has been pretty bad this year. Mike has been a little erratic but, he's still better than Capps.

Wake should only pitch in a blow out either way. His knuckleball is way too eratic for Mauer or Martinez. I know Mauer catches Dickey, but Wake's knuckle is better and is much more difficult on catchers. It was a dumb choice by Maddon.

I think Grienke has the best ratios and equivalent other #'s. I would start him, then throw Halladay. Should be 3 excellent innings from them.

If Wakefield starts he may be the worst starting all star pitcher ever.

Did Esteban Loaiza start that year he won the Cy Young?

I think you throw your best pitcher with the ability to strike people out. That would be Grienke or Halladay. They are the "name" values. As mentioned, Wake is too erratic with catchers who are unfamiliar...

Well he was also really good that year for whatever reason. I mean Wakefield is in no way having a good enough season to be in the all star game much less start it.

Yeah wtf? Tim Wakefield? he may be 11-3 but he only has 60 Ks and has over 4.00 ERA, not to mention some other stats that I have no idea how they work that someone will bring up.

They voted him in because they felt sorry that he had never been to an ASG. ******** because if he played for the Blue Jays or A's it would be no big deal, but whatever.

All good for me. I'm hoping the Phillies have the opportunity for home field in the World Series...

I like Capps but he's not even close to being worth THAT

I read that the Pirates would like Sanchez in the deal. Capps is 25 and has a nice salary. I don't want to trade him at all, but if we can get a real good return for him, I am all for it. Plus, the Pirates front office loves to get pitchers in any deal.
I am also hearing Freddy could go to the Rockies and the Pirates are interested in Eric Young Jr. I don't know where Freddy would fit in Colorado.

7 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, and 7 Ks for Manny Parra in his first start back from AAA.

I don't see Sanchez going in a deal for Capps. While Capps is younger and cheaper, Sanchez plays in a shallow position for the Marlins, and he has amazing potential. I don't see them just dumping the dude for 1 reliever who may or may not make that difference. 1B prospects don't grow on trees...

I don't know what the deal will be. All I know is I saw the name Gaby Sanchez.
Pirates are pushing to trade Freddy so they don't have to pay his 8 million when he gets 600 plate apperences. Wilson, LaRoche, Grabow can also go with Sanchez and Capps. Oh boy.

I'm sure the Pirates would love to replace LaRoche with Sanchez, but I doubt they'll be able to do that deal straight. The Marlins are also cost conscious, and they have a local latin player who can help them draw in their new stadium. He is an impact player. I doubt it'd be a 1 for 1, and the other players the Pirates are offering don't really help them. The Marlins have a very deep system. I'm sure something can be worked out...

Sanchez has also been playing 3B for the last few weeks and will probably be called up soon. I reeeeally doubt he's going to be traded.
