I think that his comments were nothing more than damage control. I'm quite sure that he dosen't want to burn his bridges with the Steelers, especially considering that he is still under contract and Pittsburgh could repeat as champs next year. We'd probably all do the same thing.
As the article states, there are two sides to every story. Pittsburgh may or may not want him...who knows?
Anyways, Foote would be good in a leadership role for Detroit, but would he be that much better than Lenon? Probably not. Better, yes. Difference making better? No.
