Oh, you said year. That makes sense. I just read over that part and thought you meant one semester. All my Finance and Accounting books run around that price as well, thankfully sometimes i get to use them for more than one class.

That's the approximate price listed on the UT site, bro.

Buying books online FTW!
I got a $140 book for $27 and change, brand new.

Hopefully that's at the least per year and not semester. That would be insane. But like it's been said, definitely check for books online at Amazon and such. Much cheaper.

I'll end up getting my books on the interweb, most likely.

While we're on the subject, make sure you at least look into selling books on the internet. It's not as convenient, but it's better than selling a $50 book back for $5 after only 1 year of use.

Yeah buy used books from online most of the time they are in good condition and save around 40 bucks per book.

One time I sold back a book to the same book store I bought it from. I originally bought it for $35 dollars and when i sold it back I got $50. I have no clue how it happened but I wasn't going to complain. True story.

This is just a guess, but they have a pretty huge enrollment and it's a public school so they can probably get away with being a little inexpensive compared to other colleges. I could be completely wrong about that however.

That is an epic success. I just hate that I've bought a new book because it's all that is left, for like $100, only to have it bought back for like $20 after 1 year of use, and then have it sold "used" for like $50. Bookstores are running such a scam.

No the worst is when they say they won't accept your book because the teacher is not going to use it next semester.

Yes, but the teacher tells you that you have to get that year's version in order to succeed in the class, but then does the same thing next year.
More advice for you youngins about to enter college: most of the time, book editions from a couple years prior to the newest one contain the exact same material. The only changes are usually updates of recent information and changed examples.

The worst is when a teacher basically says that the book is necessary, but once you're done with the class you realized you spent 100 bucks on something when you didn't use the book at all. Or even if you did it was still for things you could've found on the Internet fairly easily.

Oh, yeah it should be for most of those schools I'd think, even then he would be fortunate to get in. Where do you go to school?

I'm still in high school. I'm looking at a similar situation to Chucky, although different programs, I'll probably still apply to McGill and Queens. If I can boost my average a lil' I can think about the states, but McGill or Queens is probably most realistic.

I agree, cute and costly doesn't always count. It is a sad truth that in the great country of ours, we value what is written on a diploma more then the effort put into receiving it.

I don't know why, but there's a bill in the Florida Legislature to up the credit hour cost from $85 to $212 by 2013, which will put Florida up by the national average. yippie ******* do

I'm surprised no one got my George book joke reference...
Someone asks George Bush how he felt the Brazilian who died in the plane crash.
He says " how much is a Brazilian?"

Queens Commerce is definitely the most prestigious business school in Canada. I would probably chose Queens. It will be hard, but you are obviously quite bright and if you keep up the good work and graduate from that program you will open up some great job opportunities.
