The Kansas City Chiefs announced four transactions on Tuesday. The club terminated the contracts of three vested veterans: LB Donnie Edwards, QB Damon Huard and CB Patrick Surtain. The Chiefs also waived TE Michael Merritt.

Too bad about Merritt's off-field problems. He had a ton of potential. The others aren't big surprises. Most might have expected Donnie to be kept if they're going 3-4, but he really shouldn't fit into their plans.

All of those guys should find homes quickly.

Huard's a very good back-up QB. He really got jerked around and hosed by the coaching staff this past year. The Chiefs could have been competitive with him at QB, but they were desperate to develop either Croyle or Thigpen...
