McDaniels is a good fit here, but he'll probably go back to New England where he can be the HC in-waiting there. Pretty sure he's done with dealing with how other teams run their ship. You get that a lot from coaches and players that leave New England. They run such a tight ship there and everything is done so professionally that when they go other places, it's really hard to adjust.
Pioli's trying to build that here, but it takes time and a HC that can manage his responsibilities with time and room to spare.

You're in so much denial that it isn't even funny.

Probably the fact that Josh McDaniels is an awful coach.

Word is that Romeo Crennel is going to be the next coach of this club.
I'm pretty happy about this. Pioli and RAC need to get a young OC who knows the NFL game today and they need to get a DC who knows the scheme/system Romeo runs. I want RAC to call plays on Sunday though. He obviously knows what he is doing there, but someone else needs to do the game planning and coaching during the week and it can't be Romeo.
edit: What do you think about Hue Jackson as our OC if the Raiders let him go? There have been rumblings about that for a few days now.

I don't "think" that. He was that before he left. As was Mangini and O'Brien might have been.

There is really no one out there I would rather have than Romeo Crennel as the HC of the Chiefs.
I mean maybe Bill Cowher but I don't think he is going to coach any where.

They absolutely HAVE to get someone coaching the offense that can handle the entire offensive side of things like Romeo handled the defense last year. Two main reasons Romeo didn't do well in Cleveland: bad OC's and a QB controversy. Has to avoid both of those situations in KC.
The worst thing that could have happened was for McD to go to New England because now we, as fans, have to worry about guys like Jeff Davidson and Brian Daboll coming in as OC...and those guys really are bad (though Daboll may have improved, judging by the Dolphins this year).

Hopefully Hue Jackson is fired so we can hire him. We know he loves to run the ball.. *crosses fingers*
And honestly, anyone besides McDaniels would be a massive upgrade for this team. I just want RAC to keep calling the plays.

Hue's OK. Wouldn't be horribly opposed to him, but he's always been the guy you plug in as the OC when you're about to fire the entire coaching staff. Can't really hate on his record as an OC too much because the talent he's worked with has been absolute crap. But he really has not produced much aside from last year in Oakland.

Steve Hoffmans contract was not renewed. Instead, we hired Tom McMahon, who was most recently the ST coach for the St. Louis Rams.
Bye Hoffman!

According to Bob Gretz, "the Chiefs wanted to keep Hoffman to coach only the kickers, but he declined that opportunity."
More from Gretz:
Quote:
|
McMahon has spent the past three seasons in St. Louis with the Rams. He’s a native of Montana and began his coaching career in 1992 at his alma mater Carroll College. Thanks to his association with the Petrino coaching family, he moved up the ladder in the profession. McMahon played college football and spent two years coaching for Bob Petrino at Carroll. He later moved to Utah State where he worked for Paul Petrino over 11 years.
|
The Chiefs also announced that they have not retained WR coach Richie Anderson and assistant offensive line coach Pat Perles.

Hi Chiefs fans!
Question regarding Haley. What do you guys think of him? Would he be a good offensive coordinator?

Haley was probably over his head as an HC but that doesn't mean he wasn't a good OC when he was with Arizona.
Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star did a piece about Haley last year and here's part of what he said:
Quote:
Haley can be mean. He can be a jerk. He can be tough to deal with, dismissive, condescending, abrasive and a lot of other adjectives.
He can also be an ATM machine.
You think Bowe would be this close to cashing in without the tough love and guidance from Haley and the rest of the Chiefs’ power structure?
This is Haley’s history. Larry Fitzgerald’s new contract includes a $50 million guarantee, and while he deserves every dime on his own talent, he’s repeatedly and specifically credited Haley with helping him develop.
Anquan Boldin caught for more than 1,000 yards with Haley in Arizona, then signed a four-year and $28 million contract with Baltimore. He’ll make $6 million this year.
Terrell Owens led the NFL in touchdowns with Haley in Dallas. Bill Parcells was publicly calling Terry Glenn “she” in Dallas when Haley came on staff and Glenn went for more than 1,000 yards two seasons in a row and led the NFL with 18.3 yards per catch in 2005.
Marty Booker had consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with Haley in Chicago, and a high of 747 yards in the six years he played afterward. Keyshawn Johnson caught more than 4,000 yards and 31 touchdowns in four seasons with Haley in New York.
Wayne Chrebet turned into something of a phenomenon with Haley, catching 84 passes one year and 1,083 yards another. His highs without Haley were 56 catches and 750 yards.
|
The one thing that would worry me is whether he learned anything from his stay in KC. Even as an OC, he needs to delegate and let the coaches under him do their jobs. He had trouble doing that in KC when it came to the offensive coaches. Will he continue to micro-manage as an OC? He probably needs a strong HC to keep his ego and (I believe) his insecurity in check.

HC was just too much for him. He wasn't ready and clearly couldn't manage a coaching staff. The only time the team had a bunch of success was when Haley was flat-out calling the plays toward the end of 2009 and when Pioli took the burden of managing a coaching staff away from Haley by bringing in Weis and Crennel.

Excellent news, if the Chiefs are going to experience any success in 2012 Charles will be essential. Hopefully we will hear similar news from Moeaki and Berry soon as well.

So does the Routt signing mean they are letting Carr walk?

It means they won't overpay Carr. I'm sure they'll still offer him a contract to stay in KC, but he will definitely not be getting #1 CB money. As much as I love him, he isn't worth that.
