skins dont have a 3rd round pick. ulatoski imo, is more of a 4th or 5th rounder and projects only as a rt at the next level. i could see him getting consideration at the top of the 4th if we still havent addressed the need at tackle but i dont think he has the footwork or quickness for the zbs.

ill start by saying, i like colt mccoy. wherever he is drafted in the nfl, ill be rooting for him. with that said, id be really surprised to see the skins take him at the top of the 2nd round. i simply do not think that he offers anything that the skins dont already have with colt brennan. mccoy, imo, is a promising project at the next level but will require at least a 2-3 year learning curve. i wouldnt be extremely upset with the selection but at the same time based on the skins needs i think it would be a wasted pick given what he brings vs what we already have.

Keenan McCardell will join Redskins' staff

Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Washington will hire McCardell as its wide receivers coach.

I'm still not going to trust that any of the young wideouts will become consistent threats anytime soon.

OT Tony Pashos : The 49ers will sit down with Pashos' agent at the scouting combine. Pashos has said in the past that he wants to start. The 49ers, meanwhile, are expected to draft an offensive tackle this year. In addition, Pashos' long-time offensive line coach, Chris Foerster, is now in Washington and this is expected to be a weak market for all players, including offensive tackles. The Redskins need offensive linemen, they have deeper pockets than the 49ers and they have Pashos' offensive line coach. All signs point to him playing in D.C

http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs...ree-age-1.html

Per Rotoworld/Sacramento Bee:

"All signs point toward OT Tony Pashos playing for the Redskins next season, according to 49ers beat writer Matt Barrows.
Pashos wants to start, but he'll be 30 next season and the Niners are expected to draft an offensive tackle. His former position coach, Chris Foerster, is now with the Redskins and is in desperate need of offensive lineman. We know owner Daniel Snyder can outbid/overpay anyone in the league and the Redskins need him more than the Niners do."

Gotta be better than what weve got on the roster. He was a solid starter before his injury.

Looks like this was accurate.

"The sentiment that defensive end Julius Peppers will be paid more like Dwight Freeney, Jared Allen, and DeMarcus Ware and less like Albert Haynesworth omits the possibility that the same team that gave Haynesworth $40 million guaranteed might decide to take full advantage of the rules of the uncapped year by chasing Peppers, too.

Jason Reid of the Washington Post reports that the Redskins "are expected to pursue" Peppers, which means that he'll likely be signed by daybreak on Friday.

Similar rumors -- though much more rampant -- emerged last year regarding Haynesworth and the Redskins. At one point, our pal Lance Zierlein of KGOW in Houston reported that it would definitely occur. And occur it did; a $100 million deal was negotiated between midnight and 5:30 a.m. on the first morning of free agency.

If/when the Redskins land Peppers and switch to a 3-4 defense, the eight-year veteran would move to outside linebacker for the first time in his career. As Reid points out, the key player in all of this will be the aforementioned Haynesworth, who might be expected to man the line-clogging nose tackle position -- and thus yield the glory to Peppers.

So on the ten-year anniversary of the greatest collection of highly-paid individual players who couldn't function as a team, it's fitting that the man who wrote the checks for the 2000 Redskins could be getting ready to do it all over again."

Apparently the skins are interested in Sproles as well. I like that move a lot more than Peppers, Sproles should fit the ZBS very well if we can get some o-line. This brings me to Peppers. Kinda torn, it's just old Snyder moves. I don't hate it as much since this is an uncapped year and we will probably front load his deal but we've seen time and time again guys come here to get paid and then they get lazy. He's also never played LB in his NFL career so that's another concern.

He wants to play LB so at least that puts Andre back on the line which he is definitely better suited for. The problem will be the NT position. Yea Haynesworth is ideal but he doesn't want to play the position I guarantee that, it would also be a waste of his pass rush abilities to just have him eat space.

If we signed Peppers we could have a sick 3-4 look though.

considering we are going to be running a hybrid that will consist of 3-4 and 4-3 fronts, i love the idea of brining peppers. we all know what he can do lined up at end and next to haynesworth i only imagine he would cause more havoc than ever before but he absolutely has the speed and athleticism to play outside in the 3-4. the idea of him and orakpo together gives me happy chills. if there was a cap then yea id probably say we should stay away from another contract like haynesworths but in a cap free world, as long as the contract is front loaded so we arent f'd in the future than im ok with it. i just want to stress the importance of how the contract would be structured. i dont think we will be without a cap for long.

I dont think Carter should even be considered as a 3-4 DE. Id prefer a rotation at NT with Montgomery and Haynesworth because I dont think Monte could go full time. Maybe pull Monte in 4-3 sets and put Lorenzo Alexander or a rookie next to Haynesworth. Personally Id rather draft a guy like Linval Joseph or Torrell Troupe in the 4th round to split time with Monte at NT and take over full time going forward after this year. I think Lorenzo Alexander has the potential to be a good 3-4 DE. Golston could be decent as well in a rotational role. Griff Im afraid is too expensive and getting too old and slow.

Id go:

Alexander / Monte / Haynesworth and have Golston splitting time with Alexander and Troupe/Joseph split time with Monte

LOVE that LBer set though.

I am expecting Shanahan(NOT snyder) to pursue a Cornerback, A Free Safety, some O-Linemen,maybe Dansby, maybe a Nose Tackle and maybe Sproles.

Peppers looks too much like a luxury pick.Already have Orakpo and Carter that can play OLB.
Are the media expecting the skins to behave like in the recent past?
Shanahan not Haslett or Allen is behind the move to a more 3-4 base alignment.

Shanahan not snyder or Allen is the guy driving this bus in 2010.
Peppers can only be on our radar if the other spots are addressed.

Running a 3-4 hybrid with 4-3 looks, Peppers makes the most sense. You trade Carter and use that pick on a NT. Peppers - McIntosh - Fletcher - Orakpo is straight up nasty!

I cant take you seriously if you are saying Carter can play OLB. He was terrible in SF as an OLB and now he is 4 years older. NO THANKS!

I think you'll find Haslett has spoken to Carter about his hybrid defense.

Dont be surprised to find Carter still on the team come september and playing some linebacker in Haslett's defense.
You can take me seriously then....(lol).

Haslett said recently that he had spoken with Carter and he thought that Carter would be a nice fit in the hybrid style they plan to run and that he thought that Carter would be very successful outside. Could be smoke and mirrors but thats what he said.
