Joe Hawley was my favorite pick. He's only 21 and he's very athletic and strong. A 4th rounder is a good price to pay for a center that could be the anchor of your line for a very long time. Look at manning and saturday.
I'm not saying he will succeed and have a nfl career like saturday has, but this was a perfect year to draft a center. He has time to learn the offense and study mcclure before he hangs them up, or gets cut.
Yeah, I don't know a lot about the kid but he's obviously strong and a mauler. Plus, he seems to fit that "nasty" persona our OL takes.
"He's a guy who's going to gore you, and we love that," Dimitroff said. "You know that from our line right now, with how they are coached and with how they play. He fits into that mode as far as playing right up to the whistle."
Dimitroff doesn't want to compare Hawley to New England Patriots Pro Bowl guard Logan Mankins, but said there are some similarities.
"He's got a nasty side to him when he's on the field," Dimitroff said. "He's got a little bit of the same presence, interestingly enough, that Logan Mankins had when he came out of Fresno State. He has that demeanor about him. Just a really calm, cool and collected guy, but when he gets on the field, he plays with mean intentions."
