I agree with you that they aren't going to keep six backs. Although Goodson does give them a change of pace guy, Lee can be a great special teamer. Though obviously Goodson has the inside track considering he was a 4th round pick. Jamall's best chance is either to make the practice roster or if he shows a lot in the pre-season, he may get picked up by another team.

If memory serves, he was the top overall CFL draft pick, so if he's stashed on the P-squad he might not want to stick around.

Todd Haley threw Darling out of practice because he was screwing up.I think the drops of the WR's also played a part in this

He was the top player in the draft but he was the 3rd pick in the CFL draft to my BC Lions. He'll probably make about the same but it depends how badly he wants to pursue the dream of playing in the NFL because there's no guarantees he'll get back a shot to compete at another NFL training camp.

True, but if he does good in the CFL it is a very good way to get real game time experience rather then sitting on the practice squad.

Not only that but 500k plus becoming the face of the franchise = more money through endorsements and public appearances than 500k for being on a practice squad.
It depends on how badly he wants to give up money and playing time for a shot at getting an NFL starting job.

So, Roddy is holding out still and Harry Douglas is out for the year. Good stuff.

Vikings safety Tyrell Johnson on rookie Percy Harvin:
Quote:

“He’s stretching our defense so I know he’s going to stretch everybody else’s defense when game time comes,” Johnson said. “He’s a blazer. He’s the fastest guy I’ve seen on the field yet.”

Micheal Johnson has been getting rave reviews from everything I have read. Only complaint I've heard is that his pad level gets a bit high every now and again.

Apparently rookie WR Jeremy Maclin is a quick learner. During an 11-on-11 drill he beat two defenders down the left sideline to catch an 80-yard TD from QB Donovan McNabb .

Off topic a little bit, but I thinkt he Cheiffs are going to have a real good offense this season. Yes they lost Tony G, but they have Bowe, LJ, Cassell, Engram, and Toomer. Their offensive line is getting better and their defense should be decent to say the least. They could contend for a playoff spot if the Chargers decide to not show up again.

Chiefs offense I don't think wasn't that bad last year with Thigpen. With Haley, Cassel, Toomer, and Engram it should be much better still.

Garrard seemed to be hitting passes well.
Quentin Groves is fast.
Rashad Jennings is a big dude.
Greg Jones kept hitting people with his shoulder even after the play was done. Mean mofo.
Mike Walker showed some speed down the sideline, as well as Jarrett Dillard. Watch out for both of these guys, SWDC.

Brandon Jones out for 8 weeks after hurting shoulder diving for pass.
Don't expect this be a bargaining chip for Crabs, since Jones wasnt going to be a starter and Hill/Battle/Ziggy are all competent #3 or #4 WRs, and Spurlock has surprised in camp, with size/speed.

Gary Barnidge is getting more and more first team reps. All likelihood he'll be the guy.
Rhyne Robinson is starting to make some real noise and push for the third receiver role.

Stevie Johnson is back practicing, and Justin Jenkins has been impressing with increased reps. I hope both make the team, but there are rumblings about Hardy possibly not going to PUP. Don't know if I believe that, though. We have no need to rush him. I still say he goes to PUP, and Jenkins plays special teams for that time.

Alex Mack and Brian Robiskie don't look like they're gonna be starters as soon as we'd hoped, but there are certainly bright spots. Mack is having some trouble handling those big nose tackles. Robiskie looks good, but I think Mohamed Massaquoi is ahead now in the #2 WR competition. Momass is the starter across from Edwards if the season starts today.

Just got back from Giants camp. Hakeem Nicks made some very, very nice plays today. Bomar and Woodson were iffish, but Steve Smith also looked good.

The first year he was a rookie wideout. We traded for Chambers because VJ wasn't ready to be a #1 receiver yet and Parker had just been lost for the year. The second year he torn his groin and actually required surgery to fix it (unlike LT). Right now Buster's still getting conditioned to play regularly again.
And yes, I agree that this may be his last chance, but I'm not ready to push the panic button yet. He's got a lot of upside and is a hard worker. Sometimes, trying to do much to prove people wrong is going to end up hurting him even more. As long as he's ready for gameday, then all of this won't matter. Besides, even if Buster is active on gameday, he's not going to get as many looks compared to Gates, VJ, and Chambers. Though I hope he's ready to take over for Chambers once he leaves after 2009.

I didnt want to make a new thread since it's likely been posted but:
Quote:

The league abhors one of their pretty boys going down with an injury. Which is why there's a new rule this year - you might call it the Tom Brady rule - that forbids defensive players from "forcibly" tackling a quarterback below the knee. Instead, the league wants defensive players, if they must hit the quarterback low, to swipe at or swat the quarterback's legs. To me, that sounds a bit ticky tacky. This ain't tennis, after all. How do you judge if a swat at the legs is too forceful or just right? I asked the officials who are in town this week to explain the new rules to the 49ers that question and they said that all lower-body tackles on quarterbacks must be done with the arms or with the head and shoulders to the side.

Ah, the pussification of the NFL

I went to the Vikings camp yesterday.
To sum it up, Tarvaris still blows and Harvin is going to be a beast.
