If the Vikes would just sign Mike Vick they'd be the most exciting offense in the league : ). j/k about Vick

Hell, I'm not kidding. What do we have to lose? Bring him in.

Defenses would get tired just looking at Vick under center, Adrian Peterson as the back and Percy Harvin split out wide.

Knowshon finally signed a five year deal. I've read that Torain has been great so far in camp. If he can stay healthy, they'd be quite a good tandem. Pepper in some Peyton and they have a good rushing attack.

At Jets camp either the secondary is the best in the league or the wideouts are the worst, because apparently nobody can get open against the defensive backs. Unfortunately I think it's more the second than the first, though at least the secondary seems to be solid right now. Probably just not as good as it would seem based on the results in practice, because the WR's are terrible.

It's just the opposite in Bills camp. Well, not fully, but Owens and Evans are certainly making toast out of anyone matching up with them. McKelvin, especially.

Brady Quinn was "lights out" in this morning's session they say. Nice to hear, but the two QBs have been inconsistent throughout. Mohamed Massaquoi looking more and more like he'll have a big lead at the #2 WR spot heading into the preseason games.

seems like Brandon Rideau is impressing and pushing for the #3 WR spot

Rideau was always good in training camp in Cleveland (except for his last year he was awful) and was mr.preseason last year in Chicago. I wonder if he can keep it up into the regular season this year.

Couple notes from Matt Barrows:

Frank Gore said he spoke with Davis after the tight end's practice scuffle Thursday forced the team to run gassers. "I told him it was his fourth year now and it shouldn't be him (fighting) now." Gore said he might expect a rookie to lose his cool. "It's his fourth year now. It's time ... it's time for him to be a man."

Gore, meanwhile, reported to camp at 214 pounds. He said his July routine didn't involve the hill running that he's done in Miami's Tropical Park in previous summers. Instead, he went back to the University of Miami where he concentrated on power cleans and stair work. As a result, he looks as strong and as crisp as he ever has in training camp.

Panthers are using sets with fullbacks split into the slot and a running back split out wide.

Methinks based on the success of Smith in a quick WR screen with a WR blocking on the inside, it could be quite a little earner if there's CBs playing off to hit Stewart in space with Hoover matched up over a nickel back.

Why? He's been terrible his whole career, the knee isn't his problem. It's his brain.

Last year he threw for 1,000 + yards, 9TDs and only 2 INTs, 59% completion rating and a QB rating of 95 in the 5 games he started.

He's only started 17 games his entire career. He hasn't been an all world QB, but the light is starting to come on for him. Drew Brees didn't start to look like a good QB until he had around 30 games under his belt and it's widely accepted that QBs don't begin to become their true selves until they hit their third year, one could also make the argument he hasn't exactly had help at wide receiver either.

Right now, IMO, he's the best QB minnesota has on their roster and ought to beat out Rosencopter.

You say 1,000 yards like it's a good thing. Thats 117 yards per game. A 59% comppletion percentage isn't good either, not sure what you're getting at here. It's not like we are without skill position players. Obviously AD in the backfield and Berrian is a very solid wideout, and Wade/Shiancoe are servicable options.

There was no light last year. 4 of those TD's were in a fluke game against the Cardinals after they had completely mailed it in.

He's not a good decision maker, he's horribly inaccurate, and cannot read a defense to save his life.

Take it from someone who watched every minute of every game, there is a reason he was benched for Gus Frerotte. Gus freakin Frerotte.

Sage is the best QB on the roster. He's not very good but he is capable of moving the chains and hitting open receivers, something Tarvaris has proven time and time again that he can not do.

I have to disagree with ya man. Tarvaris Jackson is the best option of us and I dont even like say that. He knows the system better, He has the mobility to move in the pocket and also he knows the receivers. Although he may make terrible decisions while playing he has shown that he can get the job done with a couple games. Sage on the other hand has been a career back up who has never been able to make it as a starter and he is known for his chronic turnovers. In the end I don't trust either of them but that's what we are stuck with this year so we better just deal with it and hope for the best.

Nothing against you, but I don't understand why Vikings fans still back him. Other than short flashes of not being completely awful he has shown me nothing at all. Great athlete but he just does not have the smarts to be an NFL starting QB. Throwing into double teams, fumbles, that ******* jump pass that he does, I've just given up on him.

He may know the offense better, but that doesn't mean that he can run it well. He consistently misses open receivers and kills drives with his inability to get the ball to the open receiver.

Sage should be a backup quarterback, no doubt. But when it comes to keeping the defense honest with at least a shred of a passing game, I think Rosenfels is the guy. He completes a good % of his passes and while he does make a lot of mistakes and bad decisions, so does Jackson.

I do think T-Jack wins the job initially, but come week 5 I fully expect Rosenfels to be starting.

Brady Quinn was good in the scrimmage today and outperformed Derek Anderson, including a 50 yard TD pass to Lance Leggett (who I really like so far, hope he makes the team as the #6 WR). He was throwing with the 2nd team offense against the 2nd team defense, while DA was with the 1s vs. the 1s if that means anything.

It's a tall order for Leggett unless a serious injury happens.

Braylon Edwards
Brian Robiskie
Mohammed Massaqoi
Mike Furry
David Patten
Josh Cribbs
Lance Leggett
Paul Hubbard

At this point, I think he's on the outside looking in

The top 5 seem set barring injury (Edwards, Massaqoui, Robiskie, Furrey, and Cribbs in some order). If they keep six that means that Leggett only has to beat out Hubbard and Norwood and Patten. Patten I don't think makes it unless he lights it up in the preseason games b/c the vet minimum is a lot more than what those other guys make.

hahaha what...maybe as part of some crazy nickel but let's get real, that will not be a regularly called D. Way too much vulnerability for anything except occasional nifty surprises.

Sage on the other hand has been a career back up who has never been able to make it as a starter and he is known for his chronic turnovers. In the end I don't trust either of them but that's what we are stuck with this year so we better just deal with it and hope for the best.
I think Jackson could be a good player for you guys. Sometimes it takes up to five years for a quarterback to be a decent starter. Of course we live in the fast lane now and days and no one wants to wait that long. But guys like Warren Moon, Dan Fouts, Drew Brees, and Steve McNair, it took them a few years (four or five) before they become good pocket passers. If Jackson stays healthy and works hard, he can be a good player in the NFL.
