Tedy Bruschi Retires
Patriots LB Tedy Bruschi retires after 13 years
I know this has been talked about a little bit in another thread but I think Tedy deserves his own thread after his great career.

Shortly before SuperBowl XLII
Today on the radio Tedy explained how he was just trying to give his wife a break b/c the security was so tight and the players' families were brought in very early.
Everything about Tedy was positive. BB called him the perfect player who "always did the right thing" both in football and out.
You will be missed Tedy.

Tedy handled the announcement incredibly well. He'll be on a Network near you soon . . .
The entire presser is worth watching for anyone interested in such things. Everything about the guy screams class act. I had the audio streaming while at work and could hear the emotion throughout. Hell, just the audio had me a little choked up . . . BB was even choked up talking about Bruschi.
No link yet but ESPN streamed the presser so it's probably on there somewhere.
I suck at embeds . . . so here's the link to the Pats homepage video archive which is the fully edited post production deal, not just the brief words of Kraft/BB and then Tedy. Skip to 2.30 to hear Kraft, BB at 6.00 and Tedy at 14.50 ---> Link.

yeah i heard he was not a likeable guy.
he had a great career though, and he always said the right things publicly. congrats to him for having such an accomplished career.
he worked his ass off. he deserves his praise.

He basically told it like it was whether you liked it or not. Well liked . . . can't say for sure, but I'd guess the people who did not like him were not hearing what they wanted to hear.
Well respected without a doubt and that is far more important.

Never been that much of a fan, but you gotta respect how he played and who he is as a man. Hope he does well after football.

I hate the Patriots. But I've always been a huge Bruschi fan. Great Player and an even better person.

Feels like it's more than a coincidence that Bruschi retired the day before the Patriots' first cuts.
I'm willing to bet that Belichick came up to him a week or two ago and told him "Tedy, we love you, but it's becoming increasingly unlikely that you will be on the team this year. You have until Monday, but we'll respect your decision either way."

Great player, great guy, and I'm glad to see that he is going out (more or less) on his own terms.

Was a very inspirational player by working hard and helping his team win Super Bowls after suffering a heart attack (I believe it was a heart attack. I know it had to do with his heart tho). Wish him nothing but the best.

It was a stroke caused by a hole in his heart.
