That is basically the key element in the NFL. The coaches consider themselves a coaching fraternity, and protect their own. So to crack that is hard to begin with, and if you do get an "in" you better be able to play well with others, or you're going to get fired, and possibly blackballed. Add your usual coaching drama to the fold, which to be fair, is at ALL levels of football, and it explains why guys like this get fired.
I think in Kansas City it was more of a philosophical different between two Off. coaches, but that's just my opinion

Who'd he want to start? McCown?
Leftwich should do fine in TB. By fine I mean good enough until Freeman comes along.

Sometimes I still think we cut the wrong quarterback.

**** this.
Jags would have been a great OC and I would have had no problem starting JJ.
Every day I am getting more frustrated with Raheem Morris.
I miss Chucky :(

What a stupid move. Absolutely horrible, and just because Jagodzinski didn't agree with the starting quarterback?
I just find it to be kind of an asshole type of move 10 days before the season. If you foresaw these problems possibly happening, at least do it earlier or don't hire the guy at all. He's really without a job now for the year in most cases.

Jags was a good coach. Loved having him in Green Bay.

If Dallas loses to the them next week I'm going to eat my hat. The Bucs are a bit of a mess right now. I want to see a blowout, dammit.

This kind of makes me hope for a Killdrive firing, although this late that might not be a good thing.

Most of Jags experience has been with blocking and when he was the Packers offensive coordinator he didn't call the plays nor did he call them at BC so the issue does make some sense.

edit: after reading cvv84 comment i had to rewrite this. I wouldn't mind him back in GB as the o-line coach, but it's too late.

If you make a hire in this league, they should be allowed "atleast" one season to see what they can do. I don't know how you could possibly see a member of your staffs potential or really anything if he doesn't get a shot to work it out. This close to week one I don't see any positives coming from this decision, just a big steaming pile of negatives and now you have less of a shot of entering contention then you did before.

Well I don't know about that. If a problem player would be a distraction, a problem coach would be a hundred times worse of a distraction. When millions of dollars are on the line, you don't want to mess around with that. Of course, no one here is exactly sure whats going on.

Odd move, but if Tampa thought that Olsen would do a better job than it was the right one. I was unaware that he did not call the plays in Green Bay. That makes me think he was way too overhyped this past offseason.

Let me get this straight- a secondary coach turn head coach didn't think a head coach was ready to be an OC?
