No, 3 years ago Green Bay was the youngest; Tennessee was second. 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 the Packers have been the youngest team in the NFL.
Quote:
The Green Bay Packers will remain as the National Football League's youngest team for the third consecutive season, it was announced by the league office Wednesday.
Based on an analysis of NFL Kickoff Weekend rosters, the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs are tied for the youngest roster with an average age of 25.57 years.
Last season, Green Bay's average roster age of 25.72 years on Kickoff Weekend was the youngest in the NFL. Indianapolis placed second with an average roster age of 25.74 years.
In 2006, the Packers' average roster age of 25.57 years was the youngest in the league. Tennessee, with an average roster age of 25.77 years, was second.

My bad, my point remains though, it's unusual for a team to remain that young, or continuously get younger for this amount of time.

Carolina has Mushin who's 36, Kasay who's 40, Delhomme's 34, Hoover who's 33, Damoine Lewis, Keydrick Vincent, Peppers, Smith, Diggs, who're all 30 or above too.
There's plenty of vets north of 30 even on young teams. I think it's more about the average age of the depth more so than the starters.
I know in Carolina's case almost all of the backups are in their early 20s.
Almost all the backups along both lines, linebackers, secondary and receivers are under 25 bar one or two.

That's a good point. The Jaguars always seem to opt for younger, "farm product" depth systems than vet depth systems - start the experienced guy and keep some younger guys around as depth to gain experience and provide competition.

Green Bay don't sign free agents though, that will skew the stat if you basically only add players through the draft, basically replace anyone who goes out with a younger guy.
Stat really needs to be broken down by positions and starters to really show anything though. For instance the Vikes are fairly old on the list, but our offense is really very young outside of Favre. Our defense is a fair bit older though and our older guys are key guys.

John Carney is 45 too. So yeah, Brunell and Carney bring down the average age on our team. Our starters and contributers are all young.

The difference is less that 2 years between #1 and #32. The bolded franchises are fairly evenly spread out over the list. The stat is fairly interesting, but ultimately pretty pointless really.

Damn you Mark Brunell and John Carney.

The average career of an NFL player is 3 years, so not really.

Yep. I think we are a Dirk Johnson away from being the youngest in the league.

The Giants would be even younger if we didn't have Jeff Feagles skewing the numbers.
But as far as Im concerned, Jeff could put until he's 50. As long as he can do it, I have no problem with him being our punter.

I don't think 1 or 2 players is going to make a difference. Two years ago when we had Favre and a LS that was in his 40s we still topped it

suppose the average age is 26, and you add a 40 year old kicker to your roster while someone is on IR (hypothetical)
(26*52 (players) + 40)/53 = 26.25 years old average one or two oldies doesn't spoil your team.

The age difference between the typical young and typical older rookie coming out of college is about the same margin of 2 years. So in this case, age doesn't necessarily translate to years pro so easily.
