At best he's an average #3. If he was on a real team there's no way he'd be starting. And there's no way he'd put up 1,000 yards. He wouldn't do it with a good QB and sure as hell couldn't do it with JaMarcus Russell.

Getting 1,000 yards in the arena league doesn't count.

I'm pretty sure Matt Millen didn't draft Smith. But yeah, Smith is a stud. He was one of my favorite RBs coming out. Thought he was an absolute steal in the 4th round.

Millen was still around then, so I guess he gets some credit. You can't always miss lol.

It is just to impossible to judge Henne and Russell. Henne was drafted by a very solid organization that knows how to win and is consistent with its training. Russell was drafted by the most dysfunctional organization in pro football and it has no doubt destroyed his confidence and his ability to learn.
On paper Henne has passed him as a potential NFL QB but Russell's potential is still off the charts but can he ever reach it on a team like Oakland, no. Oakland is a death zone for rookies, the team has no doubt quite on Cable who is nothing but another 'yes man' for Al Davis's. No decent HC will work for Al so there is zero chance Russell will ever receive the training he needs and his career will probably be a big flop as long as he remains with Oakland.
I see no way Russell can ever reach his potential in Oakland so we may have to wait till they cut him and he gets another shot with a better team.
People no doubt, will rain down the word flop on Russell and claim they knew it all along, however I don't think people realize that Russell had very little chance to succeed in Oakland with Al Davis as the owner. The team is a total mess with little chance it will get cleaned up till Davis passes away. I repeat it is the dead zone for rookies and a dead franchise just waiting to be buried with Al's death.

Give me Henne. I don't want to hear any more of these "look at what he has to play with" excuses for Russell. He's just a fat dumb-ass.

haha true story of a Michigan Wolverines fan.
I remember Michigan fans wanting to kill him after the debacle against Oregon. not to mention App state.
funny how he got the brunt of the blame as opposed to Lloyd Carr.
Let's just hope henne can keep it up.

Its not hard to see Chad Henne can play. Its obvious to me at this point Jamarcus just doesnt want it enough, does not have the drive or fire to give himself a chance. If he did he could be really good, thats the sad thing.
Henne made some big time plays with the game on the line on MNF. He showed poise, mobility, arm strength, accuracy. The guy has what it takes folks. I really like the crop of young QBs that stepped in very fast and gave their teams leadership and fate in the future. I very much admire guys like Ryan, Flacco, Sanchez, Henne and also Matt Stafford who I think is doing fine even if the wins arent coming easy. These guys are taking the bull by the horns, they are making their team their own. They understand their duty and responsability as NFL starting QBs.
Its so sad for us Raider fans that had so much hope in Jamarcus that he's just not willing to be like that. I cant understand an athlete thats just happy with his money and doesnt have the drive to succeed. Cant watch him sit on his fat butt alone instead of talking to coaches about strategy on the sidelines anymore. It just makes me want to throw up...

Henne doesn't seem like he'd be so selfish. Plus, he was a Michigan QB.. Oh my.. I think I want to marry him!
