Default 2014 NYG Coaches/Schemes etc

at 0-5 the 2013 is pretty much a disaster. While I hope we fight for some respectability down the track, our SB campaign this year is basically over.

With that in mind there will be changes next offseason. So let's discuss options

Who do you want for

1. General Manager - Jerry Reese, or ?

2. Coach - Tom Coughlin or ?

3. Defensive Coordinator?

4. Offensive Coordinator?

5. Special Teams Coordinator?

What kind of schemes would you like to see next year?

I am not a fan of Zimmer to be honest.

I would like to see continuity if at all possible

I wouldn't mind seeing Mike Sullivan considered as a HC option, he knows Eli and this offence.

As for defensive coordinators, I'd like to see Ken Norton or Pepper Johnson considered.

I don't want Coach Sully. He is having issues running our system down there. I don't want him being a HC. First let him get the OC job done correctly before getting promoted. I don't care i the next guy is a stranger or not. Get me a good creative scheme on both sides of the ball.

I ready to change to a 34 scheme. At least it forces us to be creative and aggressive. It's not like we can run only a 3 man rush and drop the 4 Lbs. If we want pressure this means we have to be aggressive and creative enough to figure out who will come and who drops back.

No more rush 4 and drop back everyone. That's not going to cut it anymore.

Offensively, where do I begin? Well scrap this system. I don't mind running a WCO system or Air C. system. No more going deep every couple plays. The biggest thing is change the WR rules, specifically choice and option routes.

I am not sure I want a west coast offense.

I am also interested in Denver OC Adam Gase as a head coaching option, he also was effective with Tebow at QB.

As far as a defence goes, I want a physical agressive unit

I think the Bucs issues are much bigger than their offensive scheme. They had a pretty good offence a year ago.

If the Bucs fire Schiano, I would like to see Sullivan here as an OC.

football nation has five coaches to replace Coughlin
http://www.footballnation.com/conten...in-2014/25296/

Quote:
Bill Cowher
In 15 years as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cowher compiled a record of 149-90-1, including a win in Super Bowl XL over the Seattle Seahawks. The knock on Cowher is that his teams missed many opportunities by losing 4 AFC Championship games at home, but there's no denying that he knows how to get the best out of his players. He also has not coached since 2006 but it's sort of like riding a bike, isn't it?

Jon Gruden
In 11 years as an NFL head coach, Jon Gruden had a record of 95-81 and guided the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl XXXVII win over his old team, the Oakland Raiders. His last year of coaching was in 2008, but as an analyst he has surely kept up on film study. Gruden has the reputation of not being patient with young quarterbacks, so uniting with a 2-time Super Bowl MVP in Eli Manning may be the perfect fit.

Steve Spagnuolo
Sure, Steve Spagnuolo did not have success as head coach of the St. Louis Rams, but remember when Bill Belichick coached the Cleveland Browns? In 2007, Spagnuolo was hired as the defensive coordinator by the Giants and promptly led them to a Super Bowl XLII triumph by holding the high-scoring New England Patriots to 14 points. The Giants' organization likes to hire familiar faces and Spags would certainly fit the bill.

Mike Zimmer
Mike Zimmer may not be a household name, but in NFL circles, he is certainly anything but an unknown. Under Zimmer's direction, the Bengals have finished in the top 10 in defense 3 of the past 4 years, a far cry from what the Giants have done on that side of the ball in recent seasons.

David Shaw
David Shaw is one of the hot names from the college ranks to possibly make the leap to the NFL and rightly so. Shaw served as the Stanford offensive coordinator from 2007 to 2010 under head coach Jim Harbaugh and took over as head coach when Harbaugh left to coach the 49ers. In his first two seasons as coach of the Cardinal, Shaw had a record of 23-4 and two BCS Bowl appearances.
No real surprises, any thoughts or comments?

Why? What did Sully do to earn it? I don't see them tearing things up there either. One year ago and now it went to heck just like our offense. I want a new OC and DC with no ties to our franchise.

give me Zimmer as HC, Spags as DC and someone who will let Eli run the offense at OC and I'm a happy camper

There is a lot of good stuff to build on here. Depends on how much of an overhaul we need. I am thinking we need more to reload than rebuild.

I am not sure who we should get.

If we do stick with Coughlin, I wouldn't mind if he looked at Charlie Weis and Romeo Crennel as coordinator options

Schematically I think the styles of systems that I would prefer are

Offence: Vertical Passing, Zone Blocking

Defence: 3-4 Front, Man Coverage

Naturally it would depend on good coordinators, but these schemes seem to be the most successful in the NFL

I am not too sure. We need a lot of talent and get rid of the over paid, injury prone veterans who can't stay healthy. That's a lot of players. A system change on both sides is a must in my opinion.

Just give me a defensive-minded HC when Coughlin retires. They said on NFLN yesterday that sources told them Coughlin would be afforded the opportunity to return regardless of how this season ends, and that he personally wants to return.

But to answer the question:

1: Jerry Reese stays. If not, someone from the Seahawks FO would be nice. They always draft extremely well.

2: Defensive minded HC, wouldn't mind Zimmer, Spagnuolo, Rex Ryan(yes, I said it). Does anyone know anything about Mike Pettine? Could he be a good choice?

3: Doesn't matter as long as we have a Def.minded HC.

4: No preferences, just someone who lets Eli control most of it. But preferably someone who likes simpler routes for the WRs and more short and intermediate passes.

5: I have no idea.

Watching the last game, there are signs of improvement, and this team hasn't fallen apart.

I think Tom Coughlin returns as head coach.

I have done a bit of thinking and I think I would ideally prefer to see Pepper Johnson as our next defensive coordinator.

He has experience in both 4-3 and 3-4 defences, he knows about physical front seven play and he had learned his craft under Belichik.

I think he would get instant respect and help overhaul attitudes on our team.

I want Zimmer in Tennessee. Stay away, or we'll send Kenny Britt to the practice squad and break scottyboy's heart.

Coughlin either retires or comes back, but there is no way we fire him after this season unless we go 0-16

I doubt they take a demotion. Fewell will be gone because his contract ends. I don't think we extend him. The issue is Gilbride who has been here since 2004. Can TC cut ties with him?
