Crawford wants out of Tampa. He's mad they picked up his option instead of getting a contract extension.

Thank you Milwaukee for declining Braden Looper's option. Start the bidding. Anyone, anyone? ...

His defense is pretty bad though. But anyways, I don't think you'll get him for as cheap as you want. Yes he may be on the block, but I am sure the Pirates wouldn't mind keeping him.

I wouldn't give up a top 8 prospect for him. I'd give up a few below that though in order to get him. Like you said, he doesn't play good defense and he's injury prone. The latter mentioned reason being something the Mets can't afford this year.
I'd love to grab him though.

And too bad he has no power for a first basemen who isn't nearly as good a fielder as he used to be.
Still, perhaps he can pull a Bobby Abreu with the Angels and start getting some of the young hitters in SF to be more patient.

Yeah, but if he plays only 1 game in SF, that will be an upgrade. You gotta think like Sabean to figure out what the Giants are going to do.

You can make do with the power deficiencies. So long as you have some power some where. He was a good fit with Florida. With all that power being supplied out of the middle infielders.

Who wins NL Rookie of the Year? My vote goes to Happ.
J.A Happ (PHI): 12-4, 166 IP, 2.93 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 119 SO, .244 AVG
Tommy Hanson (ATL): 11-4, 127.2 IP, 1.18 WHIP, 116 SO, .225 AVG
Randy Wells (CHC): 12-10, 165.1 IP, 3.05 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 104 SO, .261 AVG
Chris Coghlan (FLA): 128 G, .321 AVG, 9 HR, .850 OPS
Garrett Jones (PIT): 82 G, .293 AVG, 21 HR, .938 OPS
Andrew McCutchen (PIT): 108 G, .286 AVG, 22 SB, .836 OPS
Colby Rasmus (STL): 147 G, .251 AVG, 16 HR, .717 OPS
Casey McGehee (MIL): 116 G, .301 AVG, 16 HR, .859 OPS

ESPN doesn't even consider Happ to be much of a threat to win the award at all. That's not a good sign.

Hanson had better numbers than Happ in 40 less innings. My vote goes to him or McCutchen.

One of the toughest ROY races in a while, I have it down to Happ, McCutchen, Coghlan, and Hanson with McCutchen probably winning

I would think the difference in innings would actually help Happ in this case. No?

I'd go with Cutch because Happ's numbers are just so fluky and he'll never ever post anything resembling that again.

How? I think it hurts him. If Hanson could do what Happ did in 40 less innings how does that make Happ look good. If you give Hanson 40 more innings he smokes Happ in every category.

So you just throw this year out the window as if it never happened? No.

Hanson's ERA, WHIP, and AVG are more likely to go up than down in more innings.

Do I have to answer who I want and think will win ROY? I am surprised noone is saying Garrett Jones. He did post all of those stats in a month and a half. Sucks he couldn't hit with RISP.

He's going to get slighted because of the number of games he played, or didnt play. However you want to put it.

Also by the fact that he is 28. McGehee and Wells are 27, hurts their slim chances as well

If I had a vote, I would have it Happ, McCutchen and Hanson top 3 in that order.

Does anyone here have any doubts that Garrett Jones will hit .220 with 12 homers next year?
