Default With Two Weeks left in the season. First round thoughts.

and us having whats most likely a top 10 pick (please don't let us win....) who do you think we should target with our first rounder and denvers 1st rounder?

Our first: I'm hoping we can bring in a beastly tackle like Trent Williams or for some ungoldly reason, Eric Berry falls to us. I'm not sold on Mays, since all he does is throw his shoulder at people, but he's my 3rd option here. This also depends on:
Denver's first: What was thought of at the start of the season as a top 5 pick has become one in the 20's. Still, Jahvid Best would be a great addition to our offense and hopefully he is here at this pick. A falling Earl Thomas or maybe we even trade up to the mid teens and pick up CJ Spiller.

And do what exactly at QB?

If Bradford's there at 7, they have to check him out and pull the trigger.

Trent Williams isn't a left tackle and they have guys who can play right tackle.

It really is a quagmire because they have four gaping holes on this team (not to mention other various o-line and defensive needs), and only three picks in the first three rounds to fill them.

Something's going to be left out. LT, QB, S, RB.

I have a feeling we're going to be in an extremely tough spot for our first pick. What if the first 6 picks take all of these players?

Eric Berry
Ndamukong Suh
Jimmy Clausen
Sam Bradford
Gerald McCoy
Russel Okung

What do we do here? There is no QB left worth taking. I like Bruce Campbell but there are some durability concerns there and can we really afford to end up with another injury prone offensive lineman? Can Anthony Davis make it as a LT? We have two RTs already and adding another one does nothing for us, not to mention taking a RT in the top 10 is terrible from a value standpoint. Do we make a huge reach and take Taylor Mays whose coverage skills are really concerning? What about CJ Spiller? I don't think he's a special enough player to take in round 1 especially when it's relatively easy to get a productive back outside of round 1, let alone the top 10. McClain? Oh wait Ruskell is gone nevermind.

In that scenario, I would have to say my choice would be between Campbell (who I am confident will be a great LT), Haden, and Derrick Morgan. It's just really hard to swallow that we might not end up with a LT or QB in the first round.

Oh he is. Ohhhh he is. He's a mix between Chris Johnson and Adrian Peterson really.

In that scenario, I think they'd look at Anthony Davis or Spiller.

That was a mistype on my part, I meant to say I don't think he's special enough to be a top 10 pick. First round pick yes.

With our first pick, we're gonna get screwed. The best hope as it's looking right now is to try to trade back into the middle of the round and take our LT of the future. After Okung (right now) there is no other top 10 worthy OT. Maybe one will emerge by draft day, but for now, our picks could ultimately come down to Mays, Spiller, or Haden.

But lets play mock draft with what could end up being the draft order:

1. St. Louis: Suh
2. Detroit: Okung
3. Tampa Bay: McCoy
4. Kansas City: Berry
5. Cleveland: Clausen
6. Washington: Bradford
7. Seattle: ???

As you can see, if this plays out, we miss out on the premier safety, DT, & QB prospects in this class. Mays is not worth a top 10 pick IMO, he's a freakish athlete but he is all athlete, not a football player. He's not the playmaker Berry is so I see on reason to waste a pick on a FS that doesn't even know how to diagnose plays.

Spiller is electric, but whats the point of taking him. Pretty much he's a faster version of Justin Forsett, and having two backs who specialize in the open field and none that can take a pounding is not going to help this team that much. Yes he's compared to Chris Johnson, but even Johnson has someone who spells him during the games. The Seahawks don't have someone they could spell Spiller with, and unless they took two RB's in this draft or sign a veteran in free agency, I think this could end up being a wasted pick.

Haden? Do we really want to spend a Top 10 pick on a young corner? Maybe. It's really going to depend on if the front office decides to move past Jennings & Wilson & try to pair someone like Haden with Trufant. If Haden has the potential of a Darel Revis, then yes pull the trigger on him without a seconds hesitation, but I don't think he's quite in Revis's class and even then (if I remember correctly) Revis wasn't a Top 10 pick.

Pretty much, short of trading back, I think we're going to be getting Spiller on draft day. But what I really want for this offseason is a GM who is capable of finding talent on both sides of the ball and also being able to find those gems (kinda like Jack Z).

6 and 14 i guess. BPA of OT/Rb/Db probably best way to go. I'd be happy with Okung or Bulaga, Mays and Gerhart (2nd) but that's probably just me.

What I want: Okung, Spiller, Allen.

Wouldn't mind getting Bradford or Berry in any scenario though.

Yay, we have a legitimate chance at Okung now. Course it's a pretty small chance and it relies almost exclusively on the Rams taking Clausen/Bradford (doesn't matter but I think it will be Clausen if they go QB) and the Lions taking Suh. Then the next 3 teams don't really have a need at OT except for the Bucs but everyone seems to have them pegged as taking McCoy.

Our 2nd first rounder could easily be Mays, because even though I think that he is going to have a freakish combine, I think that everyone expects that of him so it won't really help his stock.

Also, I'd be happy with Gerhart in the second. He'd be a great change of pace back to pair with Forsett, and worse case scenario we get another Leonard Weaver.

Put me down for:

6-Mays
14-Bulaga
38-Gerhart

Mays can smack people around in the secondary and Bulaga is a great run blocker who can open holes for Gerhart. Next year we'll draft Montlake Jake. Cant get any better than that can we?

Washington Post - According to a league source, while Mike Shanahan will likely use their fourth overall pick for a quarterback, he would still bring Jason Campbell back to Washington for one more season.

Campbell will likely be a restricted free agent, which means the Redskins can match any other team's offer.
