Default LA is coming for Jags, Bills

But he said the Jaguars and the Bills are at the top of the list because they play in small markets that tamp down their earning potential and because they have little hope of building larger venues in their home regions.

Majestic won't approach the San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers or Minnesota Vikings as long as they are seeking stadium plans of their own, Semcken said. Other teams that may be contacted include the St. Louis Rams and Oakland Raiders.

Messages were left seeking comment from the Jaguars and Bills.

Jaguars majority owner Wayne Weaver and Bills owner Ralph Wilson have steadfastly dismissed any suggestion they will sell or move their teams.

We haven't gotten new news in this area for a while, and now something. I wish the NFL would get real, if any team should go to LA it is the Raiders who are the league's worst revenue earning team, and still have an enormous following in a powerhouse market. It's ridiculous that no one is realizing this even as Al Davis continues to sell off percentages of the franchise to pay for free agents.

Raiders seem like the most logical choice along with the Bills and Jags, I don't see any of the "classic teams" like Minnesota moving. Minnesota would be insane if they moved.

St Louis with their poor, poor performances recently might be a possibility.

of course I'd prefer the raiders and jags over the bills.

at least the Bills can sell out their home games...

I wonder how this would affect the divisions. I would be so mad if the Ravens/Browns/Steelers get put into seperate divisions, that is a great 3 way rivlary.

Aye, the Bills would sooner jump to Toronto than anywhere else....

As I see it, the candidates for relocation go:

1.) Jaguars
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
2.) Everyone else.

Even when they're successful they can't sell out, and they even have a head start of something like 10,000 seats permanently covered up.

I assume the Jags will stay in the South if they move. If the Bills move then I guess they would switch divisions with the Colts or Jags.

Buffalo moving to TO makes more sense than any other move. No division reshuffling, and it's not far away at all.

I was listening to a pod-cast about an LA football team about a month ago, so keep my potential for remembering incorrectly in mind. But the thought that I left the pod-cast with, was that the Jags can't leave Jacksonville unless they show they are losing money in Jacksonville.

Which at least in the short term, would require a team to make their financial state public. Doing this during labor issues would be suicide for the owner's arguing position.

I'm not sure it would. The theory being that if they can't prove it they wont bother showing. So all they would be showing is that as a franchise they are not making money, which strengthens the arguement of the owners that they are paying the players too much and it is hurting profits. Just my take though, basically if there are teams making a loss, it really strengthens the owners cases as sustained losses means teams folding, which means less roster spots and money for players.

All that said, at this time, divisions aside, the Jags by far make the most sense to relocate to LA. I feel like the Vikes will certainly feign interest as a negotiation team, you have to hope they don't end up falling into a move because they cant get a deal done.

Would be interesting from a division point of view with the Jags though. I know little of the AFC West rivalry wise, but geographically it would make sense to boot the Chiefs, probably straight to the South given that they are not far from any of the existing teams. Ignoring rivalries that certainly seems to make the most sense to me and I don't know of any true rivalries to consider in either division.

Raiders also make sense, even division wise but they have Al Davis as owner so any form of rational thought must be discounted and thus the likelihood of moving is hovering around zero.

It is serious now, they are building a state of the art stadium, something that they never had before and you can be sure that the NFL will move a franchise there.
The NFL doesn't want the Raiders in LA and would prefer Jacksonville or Buffalo. If other stadium issues fail, you can add those teams to the ones willing to move.
The LA franchise will be worth at least a billion dollars if not more so any team moving there will at least triple in value so you can be sure that teams may be lining up for the chance if they are a small market city.
The only reason LA's teams in the past failed was because there wasn't a modern stadium available to play in and there was no way LA fans were going to pay NFL dollars to see a game in a dump.

So damn true. On the flip side, at least I might get to see some NFL games in the near future.

Florida has too much football, it's supersaturated. Dolphins, Gators, Bucs, Seminoles, and Jags. With a large population of retirees who still have allegiance to their old home teams. I think the Jags will move.

I'd hate to see the Raiders leave Oakland, but it makes the most sense because of the huge Raider fan base already there.

Will be a great move by both teams, but really, the Bills should go Toronto.

But really have you guys seen the rendering of the stadium? That's so bad***.
