I'm neither here nor there on the same division issue, but to move the date of The Game? Are you ******* joking? It's beyond sacrilegious. It's preposterous. Yeah, I'm really going to be pumped with finishing the season with Indiana or Illinois. It really makes sense. The Game deserves better. Moving it would be pissing away everything that matters.
Illinois has suffered its second significant blow to the secondary this week, as starting cornerback Terry Hawthorne will miss 3-6 weeks with a stress fracture in his right foot.
Hawthorne had a screw inserted after suffering the injury in his fifth metatarsal. He'll miss Illinois' first two games against Missouri and Southern Illinois, and possibly more time.
Too bad this didn't happen before last year's Illinois-Michigan game. It would have been greatly beneficial to Roy Roundtree.
I had forgotten how clearly that tackle from behind turned the momentum of that game. You can actually see the exact point where Illinois went from 1-7 to 2-6.
Don't forget "RB Michael Shaw." Even though there's an or behind his name, even having Shaw in the top 3 at RB makes me want to stab myself in the throat.

Hey, as long as no one ever touches him ever and the hole is like, directly in front of the direction he's already looking and going, he should have a huge year.......................
If the sarcasm wasn't evident there, FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
University of Iowa football player Josh Koeppel (stats – football card – photos) is doing fine after being hit by a truck in Iowa City Monday morning.
Iowa City Police Sgt. Denise Brotherton said Koeppel was westbound on Burlington Street, crossing the intersection with Gilbert Street, at 7:25 a.m. today. Koeppel was driving a small Yamaha motorcycle.
At the same time, a Ford F150 pickup was eastbound on Burlington. A police officer who witnessed the crash said the driver of the truck attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Gilbert Street and collided with Koeppel in the intersection. The driver was cited for failing to yield.
Koeppel was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics were he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Brotherton said Koeppel appears as if he’s going to be fine.
Koeppel is a 6-foot-2-inch, 273-pound offensive lineman who walked on to the Hawkeye football team after graduating from Iowa City High School in 2006. Throughout preseason camp, Koeppel has been competing with James Ferentz for the starting job at center. He played in four games in 2009 and was named academic all Big Ten.
I heard Justin Green is a cornerback now. That's funny considering the whole reason he signed with Illinois instead of Ohio State was that they'd let him play offense.
So supposedly the divisions are being announced this afternoon/tonight. I've read a couple rumors stating the following, but here's the first link I saw (yes, not the most definitive/reliable): http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/big-ten-divisions
If Minnesota loses their rivalry with Wisconsin that will ******* suck.
If I had to guess, I'd say Wisconsin keeps Minnesota. But if these are true and Alvarez/Bielema stil lreally think they deserve Nebraska, then Iowa and Minny would be left to pair with Indiana and Purdue, I'd assume. I wouldn't care because we'd be keeping Nebraska and Minnesota.

What about 2 protected rivalries if they go to a 9 game schedule. 5 intradivision + 2 protected + 2 (of 4 remaining) rotating every 2 years = 9?
That way Wisconsin keeps Iowa and Minnesota? Or Minnesota and Nebraska? Idk how other teams would work, I just tried and couldn't figure it out.
EDIT: So, I just messed around a little to figure out 2 protected rivals. I tried to preserve as many as I could and make it so that most teams have to face one "top half" team and one "bottom half" team (traditionally).
Obviously it's not perfect. Rivalries lost are MSU-PSU, Iowa-Wisc, Mich-PSU, maybe others. Northwestern gets 2 bottom half teams, Nebrask and PSU get 2 top half teams (that's what you both get for being newbies). I don't think it's that bad or the losses are that big.

I like the new alignment. The only rivalries worth keeping as protected are OSU-Mich, Wisc-Minn, and Northwestern-Illinois in my opinion. Will this break up some 'rivalries?' Sure but many of the others are either forced or one sided. As a Penn State fan, Michigan State is a forced rival that we don't really consider a rival. Iowa is just a 'rival' because they beat us the last two years. Michigan is a traditional rival but their OSU rivalry >>>>>>>> the one with us. I'd love to have Nebraska added as a 'protected rivalry' but its not necessary.

Yea, and even NW-Illinois isn't great and I'd put Indiana-Purdue before them. But really it's just Mich-OSU and Minn-Wisc. Iowa-Wisc is somewhat big for the respective fanbases, but I know Minn. is bigger for Wisc.
And yea, MSU-PSU is a terrible rivalry, which is why I don't think they need to be crossovers. Iowa-PSU could be a decent one that would fit, but not necessarily necessary. I think Nebraska-PSU would be an awesome crossover. It also makes so that the top 2 from each side face a top 2 from the opposite.
If those are true, I'm just real happy Iowa would get Nebraska every year and keep Minnesota. Wisconsin really is the only guy that seems out of place really. Oh well.

Wisconsins cross over is rumored to be Minnesota. Wisc gets an advantage then over Ohio State(if Michigan comes back) and maybe over Penn State depending if PSU crossover is Iowa/Nebraska or still just Michigan State. Minnesota/Wisc people care but Minnesota is a worthless team for a rivalry because they are more of a bad team than a good team and Wisconsin will be competing to win that division with OSU and PSU. I guess it depends on how the rest of the schedule rotates though once it goes to 9 games. 5 games against division and 4 other games so Wisconsin could still play Minny,Iowa,Nebraska and Michigan,OSU and PSU in the same season. If they got PSU,OSU,Minny,Michigan,Norhwestern,Mich State plus Purdue,Indiana,Illinois that would be garbage from the lack of crossover quality.
I really think the conference would do some sort of planning before scheduling crossovers. I really don't think they would let a team have to face PSU, OSU, and Wisc all in one rotation. But you never know.

Yeah if any of the OSU/PSU/Wisconsin all playing each other and then all 3 of Iowa,Nebraska, revived Michigan in the same year would be a brutal schedule. But it would gain us more respect. The SEC is brutal like that for the most part Florida playing GA,Ten,South Carolina then going to the other side playing LSU,Bama,Auburn etc. It would be very entertaining unless some no name like Mich State had a good year somehow and avoided 2 teams from PSU/Wisc/OSU. But I guess the Conf Champ game would take care of that.
PSU/Wisconsin can become a nice little rivalry though now playing every year.
