To be fair it wasn't really all the crazy at the time. His obsession was obviously way over the top, but grabbing him for the right price seemed like a good move.

Ehh I don't know I remember killing the Pirates for giving up to much at the time and the Yankees offer that Francesa wanted to give was much worse.

That offer was obviously way too much. But he was right that his swing was perfect for Yankee Stadium, at that time he was in the middle of a 20-20 year where he led the NL in doubles.

A couple of times I believe. 1996 was the last time it happened.
