Law's mideason top 50 prospects is out. Anyone in draft who has signed is eligible and anyone in the majors is not. It's Insider so I'll just do top 10:
1. Jurickson Profar
2. Dylan Bundy
3. Manny Machado
4. Wil Myers
5. Travis d'Arnaud
6. Taijuan Walker
7. Gerrit Cole
8. Oscar Taveras
9. Tyler Skaggs
10. Jameson Taillon

Holding back his best pitch is exactly what the Tigers did to Porcello, Law needs to realize this.

3 cardinals in the top 25, not bad.

Yeah. That's going to be a problem soon.

Who gets the better deal?
Team A gets: Josh Johnson, Jacoby Ellsbury, Trevor Baur
Team B gets: King Felix

Am I the only one who would take Walker over Bundy? Same age and already producing at a higher level and has the ideal pitchers frame. Playing in Seattle and in the AL West is also more favorable than in the AL East

I ultimately think Appel will sign, but a part of me hopes he doesn't. Getting the 9th pick, their original pick, and a potential lottery pick in the first round would be a nice consolation prize.

Where is Profar going to play when he's ready for the majors? Andrus is pretty damn good.

Think they'd trade Andrus. Could trade him if they go for Upton.

Since Olt plays third, Kinsler plays second...uhh...somewhere. He's too good defensively to be wasted elsewhere though, so they could probably get an elite pitcher if they traded Andrus or Profar.

I still think Appel will sign. Having two first rounders next year wouldn't be a bad thing, but I definitely can't say I'm rooting for him not to sign.
The only thing I don't want is them to give him enough to lose their pick next year. And we all know that won't happen.

Andrus will be traded and they'll get a fortune. I'm so jealous of Texas.

I wouldn't. Walker still has a much higher chance to bust IMO.

You have to focus on upside, not who has the biggest floor. You're just playing it safe when you think like that, and then you end up like the Cubs.

Not really. Bundy has the higher upside also. So he has a higher upside and a safer chance to hit that level.

How do we know he has the higher upside? Both guys are pretty much ranked 1/2 in terms of SP prospects so it's more of a wash. Both have #1 starter potential. I just like Walker's combination of size and stuff
I do agree though that he's more likely to bust than Bundy, though. Bundy was seen as advanced coming out of high school, whereas Walker was more projectable/raw.

If anyone has MLB Network, at 8:00 ct they're showing a special called "The Life and Death of Darryl Kile" Should be good. I'll probably cry. Heck I still to this day get choked up when I think about Joe Girardi announcing the game has been cancelled.

I know Shelby Miller is like 17th or 18th on Law's list, and I don't doubt that he'll have a good career, but I'm telling you right now that Trevor Rosenthal is going to be the best of the bunch in that Cardinals group of Pitchers (Shelby, Martinez, Jenkins, Wacha)

HAHA fine fine, don't believe me. I'm just saying....kid is legit. 96+ mph fastball, cutter he's already perfected (learned it this year in Spring Training from Carpenter) and probably the best change up in the Cardinals system.
I just think right now, Rosenthal knows a little bit more about pitching than Shelby does. Rosenthal mixes in his offspeed stuff really well and keeps hitters off balance, while Shelby is having trouble adjusting to not being able to blow everyone away with his 95+ mph heater.

I think Bundy's off speed stuff is going to play better at the major league level.
