Aroldis Chapman: 23 of his last 28 outs have been by way of strikeout.

That might've been the biggest win for us this year. Good to see the boys fight back and split the series. Aroldis Chapman is flat out scary when he is on. It's almost unfair.

Oakland. Then Detroit, followed by the Cubs.

Big trade between Houston and Toronto:
Quote:
The Astros have made a 10-player trade with the Toronto Blue Jays this evening, General Manager Jeff Luhnow has announced.
Houston will ultimately receive seven players from Toronto in the deal, including two Major League players, RHP Francisco Cordero and OF Ben Francisco, four minor league players, RHP Joe Musgrove, RHP Asher Wojciechowski, LHP David Rollins and C Carlos Perez, and a player to be named later. Two of the players the Astros received are former first-round draft picks. In exchange for the seven players, the Astros have sent RHP Brandon Lyon, LHP J.A. Happ and RHP David Carpenter to the Blue Jays.

Also looks like Guthrie for Sanchez is going to happen.

No thanks. I'm not sure what to make of either of them yet but they are certainly worth more than a bullpen arm who is pitching over his head. 22 K's in 35 games.

The way Pittsburgh writers are talking about it, Marte won't be up for some time. Which is absurd given we have no real lead off hitter and play an infielder in the outfield every game.

If he improves his walks and strikeouts, he would be fine. But he's going to struggle in the majors because he swings at everything.

Hughes is solid. Yeah he doesn't K, but he gets a lot of ground balls and strands runners like crazy. I think he's only allowed 1 inherited runner. What about Juan Cruz or maybe even Lincoln?

Three non-horrible prospects (plus junk) to Houston for... Brandon Lyon, JA Happ, and David Carpenter?
Id have given Happ and Carpenter away for absolutely nothing, so... yay.

The Mets aren't going to sell a potential future piece for a reliever. Relievers are a dime a dozen in the off-season and I would guess Alderson is smart enough to realize this. I dont expect the Mets to be in "buy" mode

Stranding baserunners like that is not something you can keep up over a long period of time, it's an anomaly. I might be overrating them but I probably wouldn't trade either for any bullpen arm. Both have 30 HR potential and Ike is a very good defensive 1B.

Not that you killed it but I defnitely like what you received much more. Perez has me interested the most. It's hard to make a good deal with AA but you certainly did. Cheers to that.

Isn't Dempster to the Nats very close to being done?

It was the Dodgers as of last night. Who knows what is happening with Dempster.

Yes, originally was close to BoSox, then Dodgers, then Braves, now Nats. They want the Dempster deal done first before a Garza deal. Then Maholm could be gone for prospects as well.
The Cubs would firmly place themselves as the absolute worst team in the majors if all 3 pitchers get dealt.

The Nats are interesting, they have a very good five-man rotation already but they could use him once Strasburg gets shut down. Didn't expect them to look for another starter at the deadline though with John Lannan more than capable of being the fifth starter once they have to shut Stras down and Gio/Zimmermann/Jackson/Detwiler being a solid rotation in the playoffs

Texas is run insanely good. Very fond of that organization.
