I'm not scared of Dempster for the Rangers. He's not really an ace in Texas.

Of course CJ Wilson is crapping the bed today as well, but that's beside the point.

If you add more pools to your stadium you could host some water polo tournaments.

it's 104 degrees and it's windy as hell. If you just hit a pop-up it will travel 400 ft today. Figured a lot of runs would be scored in this series

Reds are the best team in the NL and they still only average like 100 fans per game.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. But that $77 mill contract is a lot of moolah.

eh, I think Buehrle got a similar deal with on less year or something. Pitching costs a lot

Angels are one of the few teams where money isn't an issue, especially after the new TV deal.

He has a great D behind him and plays in a good pitchers park, so that should help the Angels get the most out of their investment

To be fair it was a day game on a Thursday against a **** team called the Fathers. This isn't Wrigleyville where nobody seems to work and they can all just go to day games like its their job. From what I understand our attendance is up about 3,000 a game, and for a city that isn't nearly as big as most if not all of the teams in our division, we've actually done quite alright. Getting a ticket to a weekend series against a contending team is quite difficult. I'd be surprised if every game this weekend isn't a sellout, or damn near to it.

Also, the downturn in the economy has hit this area really friggin' hard.

Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, and Cincinnati are all about the same market size aren't they?

Pirates has 32000 for a day game in the last two weeks. I always wrote off their weekend sellouts as bandwagon fans just because it's the new cool thing to do in Pittsburgh, but a Wednesday 12:35 crowd of 32k is impressive.

And they said during Thursdays game that only Saturday was sold out so far. Considering coming down from Columbus for tonight's game.

I'm sure they are but as far as population goes in the actual city I'd be surprised if we weren't the smallest of those three. Maybe bigger than Milwaukee but I'm not really sure about that one either. In and around the downtown area is pretty sparsely populated in comparison to most larger cities I've ever been to, including Milwaukee. DT Cincy only recently has become a more attractive place for people to frequent. Growing up I don't ever really remember going there for anything other than games, special occasion dinners, things of that nature.

SC, I'd buy your tickets early if I were you, I expect a very large walk up on Friday for sure and I wouldn't be surprised if Sunday was also a rather large crowd. That game is nationally televised too, IIRC.

EDIT: that's pretty darn impressive for a day game for the Pirates. I've just never really seen a day game get even near sellout here in Cincy for as long as I can remember. Opening Day is the only real exception to that rule, from what I gather anyway.

Yea opening day doesn't count for obvious reasons. They said it was the largest weekday 12:35 start crowd ever in Pittsburgh. I'm sure it was helped by the Cubs fans tho.

And I would definitely buy tickets this morning if I go down. I'm sure it will get damn close to a sellout if it doesn't completely. I have a bunch of friends from Pittsburgh going out for the whole series. I think it's easily the biggest series Pittsburgh baseball has seen in 20 years.

Gotta be the biggest work/school ditch day of the year here in Cincy fa sho.

This is probably gonna be the biggest draw for a Pittsburgh series at GABP ever. Hell, you might even be able to throw Riverfront Stadium in there too. Unfortunately(not really), I shall be in Chi Town starting today for Lollapalooza so I will miss it.

I remember hearing on the radio that the Reds series next month is already sold out and that's a month and a half away. Could have meant this weekend's series, but impressive enough.

Nobody in Arizona supports their sports. Yotes made the WCF and barely filled out the place. Cards made it to the Super Bowl and the team had to buy the remaining tickets so they wouldn't get blacked out. It's sad.

When the Giants sucked ass, they still filled at least 85 percent of the stadium. Arizona couldn't even hit over 75 percent when they won the WS in 2001 and still had the aura of a brand new franchise. Your fan base sucks balls.

Cardinals have sold out every single game since moving to University of Phoenix stadium, including preseason

and to be fair Chase Field holds like 50k, AT&T only holds like 40

Cincinnati is filled with a bunch of jaded fans who constantly compare teams to the Big Red Machine and get all grouchy if the team isn't all time great and are generally just bitter at how owners before Farmer Bob ruined the franchise.

Marge was a good owner but her age got up there and her health fell fast and unfortunately didn't sell early enough to someone who understood the changes in the game.

What is the matter with Alfonso Soriano? Easily, he is worse than Denard Span's misreported rejection.

I'm not sure what you are asking, but no deal was made with Soriano, wasn't close with the Tigers or the Giants.

Soriano rejected the trade that would send him to Giants.

edit: older reports said a possible trade but latest report with SB said a trade. Dunno if Cubs actually had a trade in place.
