Bonds may not get in first ballot but he will eventually.

I went to the rockies game today...fantastic game. The crowd went crazy for Cargo. I've looked all over town for Cargo shirts but can't find one. Ubaldo pitched great. Was really happy to see Tulo hit a homer since he is my favorite player.

Saw on realgm that Helton was released. I just saw him today. Anyone see this anywhere else?

Joe Mauer is a better hitter than Bonds is RIGHT NOW lollol

I was going to argue that point to but lifetime 298 average for BB is better than I thought..

Cobb- didn't have the power
DiMaggio- didn't play long enough/wasn't as good anyway
Mantle- Just no
Gehrig- already explained, although he's the one I'd make the biggest case for
Musial- No
Greenberg- MAYBE if the war didn't interfere, but still no
Aaron- oh come on
Willie Mays- Not enough patience to match his hitting skills
Robinson- Are you ******* serious?

He was pretty damn dominate. And didn't have the protection in the lineup that Ruth did.

He's a first ballot HOF for sure but it's hard to rank Bonds because of the steroids. DiMaggio for instance didn't play long enough because he lost a few years in the war and unlike most of the greats he decided to retire on top rather than hang around too long. Bonds was able to hang on because of the steroids. Joe retired at 36, Bonds had some of his best years after that age.

It's almost impossible to compare era's but the steroids totally kill Bonda and I'm still putting him in the Top 15 of all time. With the guys I listed we could argue about it for the next 2 years and never come up with a clear answer.

It's a little less cut and dry then "Bonds was able to hang on because of the steroids." Outside of some minor injuries in 99, Bonds was constantly healthy for the first 20 years of his career and had a freakish training regime (NOT JUST THE STEROIDS).

You sure as **** can't argue for Frank Robinson being better than Bonds.

Kyle Kendrick pitches so much better when attendance figures are low. He's like the real life version of Ron Weasley.

Im of the opinion that Barry would have been a HOF without the steroids. Which is why I think he should go in first ballot anyway. But when comparing him to some of the all time greats in the past, you can't overlook that his 4 best seasons came when he was 35-39 which is absolutely unheard of.

Eh, he still managed a career 1.080 OPS over a 17 year career. No one would suggest he was better than Ruth, but behind the Babe, it's basically Gehrig and Foxx and then a huge gap, then everyone else (in that era, that is).

edit - That said, Gehrig is the only guy I'd consider as being real competition to Bonds as a hitter after Williams and Ruth. You could say that Mays was the better all-around player, but no one else on that list even comes close.

Hank Aaron's 2 best offensive seasons took place when he was 37 and 39, so (yes I do believe he was taking amphetamines but I really don't give a ****)...
