So Bautista has hit is 50th and after last night it seems you can take Jimenez out of the Cy Young race. As a "life-long" baseball fan, I see more and more as September comes each year football has basically made baseball pretty much irrelevant to me....

The only game I went to this year he nearly had me killed. A bullet out to the second deck in left field that flew about three or four feet above my head. I almost shat my pants.

Shoulda jumped up and barehanded it like a man. And then given the ball to a little kid, otherwise you'd be a massive douche.
Btw, is baseball still going on? Jk, I knowz it is. The AAA Cubs have been on fire. Congrats on becoming the manager of the Cubs in 2011, Mike Quade.

You're an Orioles fan, September baseball has been meaningless for quite some time now. Not trying to offend you. Of course you're not going to care.

It's no secret that I don't really follow the NBA that much now that the Timberwolves are an absolute joke of a franchise. That, and I think that the way the NBA plays/officiates basketball is horrible.

Except that our starting rotation is 3rd in the AL in ERA and yours is middle of the pack. Outside of CC your rotation is very average. If you're telling me you trust AJ Burnett in the playoffs you're lying to yourself.

The Twins definitely have the best rotation of any AL team based on their performance this year. Will they continue to pitch well in the playoffs? I don't know, but right now the Twins are looking good in the pitching department. In terms of WAR, the Twins have four of the top 30 pitchers in the AL. The Rangers have three and the Yankees and Rays each have one.

What happens if it's a 3-way tie for first and only one team can go in? (Braves win Wild Card).
Unlikely, but the Rockies, Padres, and Giants are all pretty close to each other.

AJ Burnett may not pitch in the playoffs. He'd be our four. And I can trust him probably about as much as you can trust Carl Pavano. I don't care how good he's been this year, he's still Carl Pavano.

Texas has the best 1-2-3 with Lee/Lewis/Wilson, and the other 3 are all pretty far behind.

The other 3 could have been in reference to any other 3. Didn't really specify.

Not surprising that a Yankee fan is hating on Pavano but he's been great all year and there isn't really any reason to believe he's going to all of a sudden drastically decline.
And regardless of whether or not Burnett pitches the same goes for Hughes. He's been painfully average since his hot start.
I'm not saying I'm super confident about our rotation past Liriano but to act like the Yankees have a far superior rotation is just flat out wrong.

And outside of the closer, the Twins may have the better bullpen. Now, I'd take Rivera over Capps, hell u'd take Rivera over any1. But the Twins set up people maybe better than the Yankees set up people.

think maple bats will be banned next year? some of this stuff is getting ridiculous, it's only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or even killed

They say they don't have enough trees for the other types of bats so who knows.

so...I just bought tickets for mets - nationals on october 3rd. I've never seen a baseball game in my life, but roughly understand the rules. My question is: What should i know about the mets and their season so far?
