Remember that time Bartolo Colon won the Cy for winning 21 games? Good times.

He's been above average this year, and probably our best outfielder since Austin Jackson is mediocre and Maggs is the worst defender in the universe.

Seriously, talking as if Kendrick plays a ton of positions? He played 6 innings at third, a third of an inning at center, less than twenty games at left, and like 50 games at first. Whoop.

You have not been subjected to the incredible pleasure of watching a Juan Pierre- Alex Rios- Carlos Quentin outfield. The upcoming stretch against the Tigers (twice), Royals, Indians, Red Sox, Yankees and Twins should do a good job in torpedoing the season.

I never said they were the worst, I know how godawful Pierre and Rios are.

Gonzalez is definitely having one hell of a year, but there is no way that he deserves the MVP over Bautista. Bautista has just been phenomenal.

It's the Brewers, their farm system is brutal.

This is true, which is why I said we most likely got nothing. Pure salary dump, I suppose. Here's to not having ridiculously expensive closers any more though.

If I were a Mets fan, I'd be glad that they're getting 2 prospects for K-Rod. They're not going to win with this team anytime soon, and at least those prospects will have some upside.

Great move from Sandy. I couldn't care less about the guys we got back in this deal considering it was a salary dump all the way. This also helps put us in the drivers seat to re-sign Jose knowing full well we have that money off the books next year.

Also, that Fox broadcast made my ears bleed. Buck has been sick or something all year and they should use this time to get rid of him. I love Timberlake for making fun of him right to his face.

Except you're paying his salary this year still. You could have had the money off the books anyway if you'd stop using him like an idiot.

We're only paying $5 million. K-Rod is still on the hook for about $6.5 million dollars this year still so we save $1.5 million there plus we don't have to pay the $3.5 buyout next year. The money is a wash. Now we don't have to worry about the dumb option and the headache Boras was going to cause if we changed his usage during the rest of the year. Maybe we get back an older prospect who is intriguing but that doesn't even matter. It's a big win for the Mets.
On edit: I did the money a little wrong but regardless we save the $3.5 million on the buyout next year.

Not only that, but if we stopped using him, with Boras as the agent, you know there would be a grievance hearing.

Probably. It would have been a headache, but you would have won easily. As long as you don't DL someone who doesn't have an injury or take them of the 25 man roster in a fraudulent manner, I don't see how he would have any ground to stand on. Nothing in any player's contract can determine how or where they are used.

Yeah I mentioned that also. There is no way to look at this as a loss for the Mets unless you really think we're going to contend this year and even then I can make a sound argument we'd be better off with Parnell closing. The other thing is you're a hater which is what Jug is so it makes sense.
Let's not forget either that Skaggs was a PTBNL last year and Chris Perez was also a few years ago. I don't care what we get back but it may not be total garbage even though the Brew Crew has one of the worst systems.

It's the MLBPA, they would have thought of something. An easy argument to make for them would have been you used the guys as your closer for 5 months and then suddenly you stopped. It also would send a very bad message to future players about dealing with us if we treated them that way. It's a headache we no longer have to deal with.

Borat how would you feel about giving up Gary Brown in a deal for Beltran? He's a perfect fit for Citi so if we do deal Beltran to you guys I'm going to be dissapointed if he's not in the deal.

It's just not a huge win in my opinion. It's just kind of blah. It would have been a big win had all that money not been sent over. But if you're going to send over the money, you think you could get better than PTBNLs. Although you have to wait and see who they are. But more times than not, they are nobodies.
I think it's a bigger win for the Brewers. They get a good reliever in a playoff race for basically nothing but the buy out of his contract next year.

Here's a good question though. With all the stuff that gets leaked to reporters and beat writers about deals and other news, why can't they ever get their hands on these PTBNL lists? It's apparently only 5 people.
