I see is as the going rate.
Votto's deal will reportedly be for 10 years $200 million. If that's true, the Reds got a steal. He obviously took less money to stay in Cincy.

The Reds and Joey Votto have agreed to a ten-year contract extension worth $225MM, reports Bob Nightengale of USA Today. The deal will keep him in Cincinnati through 2023.

No one wants to live in Ohio. Ask Lebron. and I agree Toronto is awful!
Don't make me team up with Brody.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that that the Reds and Joey Votto have agreed to a 10-year, $225 million extension.
It's a massive financial commitment on the part of the small-market Reds and surpasses Prince Fielder's contract ($213 million) for the fourth-richest in MLB history. According to Nightengale, the deal doesn't replace his existing contract and runs from 2014-2023, which runs contrary to earlier speculation. It would also keep Votto in a Reds' uniform until he turns 40. The deal includes a full-no trade clause.

I got offered this trade:
I get:
Andrew McCutchen
Chase Utley
Justin Monrneau
Kendrys Morales
Josh Beckett
Brandon Morros
They get:
Coco Crisp
Michael Bourn
Clayton Kershaw
I know Utley is out for a bit and Morneau hasn't been the same, but does this look like a good deal to you? My other outfielders are Bret Gardner, Jay Bruce, and Jason Heyward. I have Miggy at first and Freddie Freeman when Miggy's eligible to go to third. I already have Pedroia at second.
My pitching rotation is pretty good. Outside of Kershaw, I have Haren, Shields, Zimmerman, and Scherzer.
Should I do it?

One category steals guys in Bourne and Crisp vs A well rounded McCutchen
Kershaw vs 4 high risk injury type guys.
I absolutely hate taking on unbalanced trades. I'd rather trim some fat off of that deal, however I have no value whatsoever in Bourne and Crisp because they are easily replaced throughout the season.
Recommendation: Take Kershaw out of the deal and have them drop the list of garbage guys. Just do a Bourne and Crisp for Cutch. You already have Gardener and unless you are playing 5 outfielders and need some ungodly amount of steals, they are expendable in your pursuit of one of your favorite players.

Melancon. They are saying that Aceves might spot start for Beckett who is recovering from his own thumb injury.

dammit, that sucks because I like Melancon and don't want to see him do well for the red sox.
also, I don't like Votto because in the last baseball video game I played, he beat out Shelley Duncan on my team for Rookie of the Year and ever since them I have disliked him.
