Happy opening day indeed, it kind of annoys me that there isn't any day games today though. Opening day should have day games.

I'm gonna need a stream for the Braves game tomorrow so I can continue my J Hey tradition.

The Mets and Jon Niese have agreed upon a 5 year $25 million deal. It also has 2 team options which could raise the vaule of the deal to $52 million. It was patterened after Holland's deal with Texas.

Rubin goofed up on the 2nd part. Max value is 46. Great deal for the Mets.

Even better news then. Probably the 2nd best thing Sandy has done besides getting Wheeler.

My god this team is bad. Thankfully we still have the Astros to keep us out of last place. Personally, I think they should just go young, play Anthony Rizzo and Brett Jackson to get them some Major League experience and see what you have in them, and get ready for 2013.

This whole Marlins pre game in general is a big cluster ****. I don't understand why they brought Ali out, yes I understand he won the title in Miami but still. He looks like he is going to die on the field, it is just a long drawn out awkward ceremony.

That anthem rendition is iconic. He performed it at the 1968 World Series at Tigers Stadium the same way, and many times since.
And he's Puerto Rican, so it makes sense for the Marlins to invite him.

I didn't know their was any significance behind it, I've never heard that rendition or that it was played in the WS. It was just too much if you ask me, I'm sure it sounded better in 1968 when the guy wasn't so old.

Got ya. I'm still at work so only able to follow on Gameday. Yoda's probably happy Freese starting right where he left off from the WS.

Josh Johnson waits til he's on my fantasy team to give up 2 runs for the first time ever. Bastard.
3 runs. I hate the Cardinals so, so much.

You forgot Luis Valbuena!!!!
Oh.....and they will go young, just not until June 1. No need to start the clock on Jackson for 2 months of play when we already have a pretty solid center fielder in Byrd (who will hopefully use those 2 months to gain trade value). Rizzo just needs some more seasoning. He was awful in the majors last year, and I think Hoyer really regrets starting his clock before he needed to.
My prediction is 72-90. A few bright spots, especially after June, but meh overall. As long as we get one of the top tier college pitchers with the #6 pick and Marmol bounces back and establishes some trade value, I'll be happy.
