No one can be hated more than Frank Walker.
I'll reserve my judgment until after he plays. Ray vouches for him. Oher was going to get slaughtered on the left side. At least we'll be solid on the right. It's an extremely big risk, but if he plays even reasonably well, I think that's the best lineup going into the season. Jah struggled mightily with blitz pickup, and this is preseason against basic defenses. I hate that this is the last resort, but it's the best of a lot of awful options.

At least we admitted we were ****** and are trying to fix it. but honestly I think Oher/Yanda w/ COusins at G maybe better then McKinnie/Oher VS. Pitt.

Great article. Thank you for sharing it. Its really great when you get to read the back stories on these guys. There is so much more to them than what just happens on the field.

Im terrified of this secondary, Webb and Fox arent playing as well as I expected, heck they suck. We have nothing besides Jimmy Smith and Cary Williams

The secondary and O-line look shaky at best. Some other notes Ray Rice is going to have a massive year. The run blocking will be just fine and Vonta does make a huge difference. Ricky is an awesome pass blocker although we already knew that, as a runner however he doesn’t look to be any more effective than Mcaghee. He’s definitely lost some power and burst. Tandon Doss looks incredibly promising and could be the #3 wideout. A big and strong guy with incredible hands. Torrey Smith at this point is what he is. He’s fast. He’ll be a returner and gadget guy. His hands are poor and he isn’t a polished route runner. He’s a big work in progress but luckily he won’t be relied on to do much this year. Defensively Pernell Mcphee has a ton of potential, will be hard to find playing time but he could crack the rotation.

^^ Agree with everything you said STRIP.
Sad to see Torrey suck, but hopefully he'll grow and develop out of it with time. Looks like its Tandon Doss vs. David Reed for that #3 spot.
Pass protection is my #1 concern going into week 1. McKinnie will not be ready, it's obvious. The guy was sitting on his couch for half of the offseason and IDK why it took the FO so long to realize we didn't have a starting RT on the roster. Why they waited so long to bring someone in is beyond me.
I really see Pittsburgh getting all over Flacco from the 1st snap. I'm not looking forward to this.
edit - MAJOR props to Bryan Mattison.

Yea im just glad Oher is getting back to RT. There are at least 2-3 plays a game when he is at LT when he just looks completly lost.
The offense played well especially teh passing game minus that pick 6 by Flacco. The way Lee Evans and Flacco gelled is great, it wont shock me if Lee Evans is in the mix for a pro bowl spot at the end of the year.
Paul Kruger continues to impress me. Better then I expected
If Pernell McPhee can come in and give us an interior pass rush next to Ngata on 3rd down our D will be so sick.
Webb and Fox have just flat out sucked this pre season. I hope Carr can give us something as a nickel back.

Webb atleast has some value as a blitzer and return man.
I honestly think we need to ask Foxworth to take a pay cut. Yes he is a very nice person and might even be a great locker room guy but he's overpaid. Josh Wilson should have had his contract and stayed with the Ravens.

IDK see the point in the hassle of trying to get him to take a pay cut now. Unless we have a guy we are trying to bring in. Just cut him after the season.

Anthony Allen. He's looked pretty impressive so far and I love the size. Torrey Smith can return kicks, cut Parmele loose.

David Reed needs to be our return man. he was the best KR in the NFL last year.
BTW on first and 10 today Suggs was on. Skip Bayless was claiming steelers players had Ravens players tell them they dont have faith Flacco can win a big game. Suggs then said thats why those Ravens arent on the team anymore. Makes me wonder who they were.

Allen no question.
here's what I said about him earlier in the thread
Quote:

Anthony Allen > Jalen Parmele - Not taking anything away from Parmele but Allen is the type of RB we need late in games. Him running behind Vonta Leach is like an 18 wheeler taking on VW linebackers! If we really wanna be a smash mouth football team we should keep Allen around.
|
plus Parmele has been w/ the team for a while now, we know what he brings to the table and I doubt we would suffer from his departure.(he also fumbled last night) time to bring in some new young blood!

Anyone else just read that Tandon Doss stopped a knife fight in a burger joint a few hours before the game last night?

Pretty cool.

I like Allen a lot. He just runs with the lowness and power that would really be great in the 4th. I can really see him working his way into the #2 spot and goal line work next year maybe. His hands could use a little work though haha.
Parmele will probably stick around for his special teams duty though. He is a solid KR and should stay because of that.
Outside of Flaccos initial mistake, I liked what I saw from our passing game. I think that Evans is going to out perform Boldin this year. Boldin will get more TDs but Flacco and Evans look good together. Dickson and Pitta seem like a good TE combo also, they just need to be keeping up with blocking duty. Once Joe dials in a few more things here and there, I think that he will take a step forward. I think that the weapons around him are better this year.

I hope we don't keep Parmele because he's a solid KR. We have enough guys who can return kicks for us. (Reed, T.Smith, Webb etc.)
I agree with what you say about our WR's. So glad we got Evans, as every fan on this board knew, he's the type of WR that Flacco has always needed. Can't wait to see em in mid-season form.

O'Neil Cousins was cut today, among others.
Justin Harper was also cut.

The Ravens also cut wide receiver Justin Harper, a former seventh-round draft pick from Virginia Tech, as well as tight end Jonathan Stupar, offensive tackle Brady Bond, wide receiver Terrell Zachery, linebacker Anthony Leon, wide receiver Rodney Bradley, center Ryan Bartholomew and defensive tackle Cornell Banks.
|
According to Aaron Wilson, Ravens insider, LaQuan Williams is making a strong push to be the teams 6th WR.
