Yeah that's kind of what I had in mind when I brought up Poe's name.

I like Arthur Jones.

Really no need to draft any d-lineman.

Jones is a good 2 down lineman, and McPhee is an excellent 3rd down pass-rusher.

Of course the DL is probably the most rotated group in football so depth there is extremely important.
I actually somewhat agree with you, what I should have said was that drafting one in the first, even if he is better than our guys and they remain backups, we might have what is a serviceable starter as a back up when we could use the pick somewhere else for a larger net upgrade.

Though even if he's not starter, I like Pernell as a spark plug rotational player. Regardless we'll, need depth.

The two guys I'd want if we went 5-tech early would be either Billy Winn from Boise who is a prototype 5-tech in every way and has play 34 DE, 43 DE and 43 DT. The other name might surprise people a little but Dontari Poe. He's a guy who I've been very high on since last season. People peg him as a NT right away but he is much more dynamic than he gets credit for and has actually played a lot of 5-tech and 3-tech at Memphis. Obviously I would never put him on the same level, but athletically, Poe may be the closet player I've seen to Ngata. Ngata-Cody-Poe together would be an immovable object. It would be a very intriguing at very least.
I like the Poe Idea. Imagining Poe Cody and Ngata pushing the pocket is amazing, WHO WOULD THE DOUBLE TEAM, and imagine the gains in the run game

We are so loaded on dline its ridic. Brandon McKinnie is also a freaking beast but he rarely sees the field. I really like McPhee I believe he is roughly 280 right now I wonder if we will try to bulk him up to be a full time starter or keep him as a 3rd down specialist

With what we have at D-Line all I want to see is maybe a late round depth pick, try to get another McPhee. My number one priority is ILB then OG(Grubbs is gone) or OT.

Yes, while I like the Poe idea, it cannot be argued that a greater net improvement for the team could be gained elsewhere. Although if Poe were the BPA, Newsome might jump

Just in case anyone isn't following, TACKLE and I recently ran the Ravens in the Forum Mock. In a three round format, we landed Ohio State OT Mike Adams in the first and traded up in the second to grab USC DB TJ McDonald. We loved the draft, always love to hear opinions on these things.

Also, it looks like Ray Lewis is going to miss several weeks due to a toe injury. This is not good news.

Getting Adams would be great, LT is the position that needs to be addressed the most in my opinion. McDonald is a nice prospect but like I've said before I'm not in favor of going after a S high in the draft and I certainly wouldn't want to trade up to get one.

Ray Lewis was listed as questionable today. That is good I was nervous he may miss a couple weeks. Him being questionable makes me think he may miss the bengals game at most. Keep your fingers crossed.

BTW Lee Evans is questionable as well. Hopefully he gets on the field it would be good to have him opposite of Smith w/ Boldin in the slot.

BTW I hope this is the game Jimmy Smith actually gets legit playing time. I think he would be our best CB already once his ankle is 100%

Love the first pick, meh on the 2nd pick, I like McDonald as a player but I wouldn't be too happy about trading up to get a S. All and all not bad though.

I'm really nervous with Ray's toe. Those things tend to linger and I hope this isn't going to be that big a deal. If he's out on Sunday I can see our D struggling.

Yeah I wasn't really for moving up for a safety in concept. But it was a situation where we filled our biggest need and got our guy in the first. It's not like we have a laundry list of holes we needed to fill with all of our picks. So we identified a guy we both really liked and just went after him.

I like it and would definitely be please if this was how it turned out. Was this in a thread? I can't find it.

Moving up might have to be what we do, whether it be for McDonald or not, if we can move up and address a need with a player that very easily could have gone in the first round, I'm all for it.

Yep. But not for McDonald.

Maybe someone like Adams, Brewster, B Jones, or Burfict.

Haven't been able to watch the whole game but it seems McDonald has not done well, at least on that las drive he failed to wrap up a tackle on LaMichael James which went for an extra 4-5 yards then had a touchdown pass go over his head.

As I speak he missed another tackle trying to make the big hit, guy bounced off, luckily another guy was there for the tackle

Didn't see the second half, but we came out with a win. Sounds like it wasn;t pretty but I don't care. Saw this in another forum and I have to share it here, most of you have probably seen it but I like it :).

Torrey Smiths hands may be too small to eat a whopper, but it seems he's figured out how to use his body to make the catch at least for that game.

Pernell McPhee plays out of his mind when he is on the field. Will probably be my favorite player when Ray retires.

The young guys showed stuff today, Torrey,Jimmy, McPhee, Kruger all showed plays.

I hate my local station for again not getting me this game :(

I saw that McPhee had a sack and Kruger had a pressure.

Smith's stat line speaks for itself

Jimmy got an INT!!!!!

can anyone give me a quick synopsis of their play?

(I hate being that guy, my local provider just NEVER has them on)

McPhee was solid all day. Really stepped it up on that 4th down sack.

Torrey Smith had a crack back block that wiped out a 26 yard gain by Raymell, but had a great day catching the ball. I don't think he had any drops. And he could have gone all the way for another TD if he cut his hair.

Jimmy had the pick, but made a dumb play by fumbling it. He also gave up the long TD to Caldwell. He was playing like he had safety help. That or he just expected with the blitz that Dalton would get it out early. Either way, he got beat badly.

Cary Williams got picked on a little bit. Webb made a spectacular INT. All the LBs struggled in pass coverage and communication was a factor there. Still not playing that well in the running game. Oher got called for a hold (bad call IMO) and the line just didn't get a great push when we needed it. But the Bengals are a good D so that's expected.

Thoughts on how teh ILB did w/o Ray? McClain has improved throughout his time at ILB. But still I think we need to get a guy who can cover in the draft this year.
