Looking like Kubiak is a late entry dark horse and will possibly bring along Shanahan as QB coach. I'd wonder how Shanny Jr would feel about that after seemingly being considered for the OC job outright.

Yeah it sounds like Kubiak is pretty much a done deal. Maybe Shanahan knew what was going on the whole time? I don't know, it's been a fairly strange and tight-lipped process. Rick Dennison will also likely be coming with Kubiak and probably others. Aaron Wilson is tweeting that he's expecting many changes to the offensive staff. I like that idea. Get in a full staff where everybody is on the same page. Not a bunch of guys who have backgrounds in different styles.

Does Kubiak fire Castillo? This screams biscotti stepping in.

Don't buy into the Preston drivel. Harbaugh has been the one interviewing and bringing these guys in. If anything Newsome might have had more influence in this since most of the staff was in Mobile and now that they're back we've seen Kubiak come in as the guy. Castillo's offensive line scheme is pretty much a perfect fit for what Kubiak likes to do. Dennison will probably come in as an assistant of some sort. I think everybody but Castillo might go though. Hostler maybe on his own accord since there probably won't be any chance or him to be promoted with the Ravens now. Harman has been around forever. Andy Moeller and Todd Washington both can't stick around as assistant offensive line coaches, maybe neither if that's what Dennison will be brought in as. Then there's the general offensive assistants in Craig Ver Steeg and Jay Harbaugh. Neither are relevant in my opinion, but Dennison might be a candidate for the Senior offensive assistant title too.

I don't really agree. Whilst Castillo was no doubt a Harbs hiring, if he wanted Kubiak enough I wonder if he just said screw it, let him bring in who he wants. But I don't think these things are ever really the HCs call entirely except in the case where the HC is also acting like a GM, BB in NE for instance.

Kubiak it is. Dennison will be brought in as the quarterbacks coach, but that's probably in name only as Kubiak is the one with the background in that area (as a coach and player) and he'll probably be the one working with Flacco. Dennison is probably more of a general assistant to Kubiak than anything.

Gonna be interesting to see what we do with Leach now. I assume he is cut but I think the chances he stays increase now

Yeah I still think he gets cut. Houston moved away from the two-back sets and mostly used one-back formations. If Leach is willing to take a pay-cut he could be back though, and maybe hiring Kubiak makes him more likely to do that.

I'm ecstatic with the hiring. He has coached some great offenses and to get a guy with so much experience and let him focus back on only the offense will be great. He was my second choice behind Norv Turner of the options available. There might be some adjustments to be made but this is a very positive addition. I'm pumped for Pitta to be back in this.

Leach is a sadly probably done. Age and money are both just too high. He barely made the team this year on a cheap deal. The fullback who I can't spell will fill in.

Kyle Juszczyk will probably be used in the same way James Casey was when he was with Houston. I think it's great that the Ravens have somebody who knows how to get something out of a player in that mold. That's probably not as a full-time fullback but I wouldn't expect them to use one that much anyways.

Should we bring back Tandon doss guys? When he gave a **** immediately after he got cut he played very well but eventually slowed down. If we bring back jacoby I doubt we re sign him.

Doss is one of those players who knows the system and play both offense and special teams and has very little interest from other teams in the league, so for a low prize, I don't see why not. Our offense as a whole was such a mess last year, that it would be unfair to judge any fringe player on the team. Even Torrey Smith regressed during the year after a great start and Marlon Brown where the only other wide receiver who seemed to get a consistent chance to produce.

Knowing the system doesn't apply anymore unless you're talking about special teams. I think Doss will be tendered or brought back on a veteran's minimum deal but it's hard to say if he will make the roster. Kubiak's system isn't as receiver-dependent for the passing game as some others so having more than 5 or 6 might not be too likely. He and Thompson are definitely guys who will have to earn a roster spot in training camp. Mellette is probably safe but who knows. Smith and Brown are locks. Whoever the end up investing in at wide receiver would round-out the depth chart.

On a somewhat related note I wouldn't be surprised if Garret Graham was brought in as a free agent. Baltimore needs a #2 tight end and Graham should be fairly inexpensive. He has experience in Kubiak's offense in that exact role so it would probably be a seamless transition.

I would like us to bring him in too. 49 catches with that mess in Houston is pretty nice and he is 27 also. We will see if Ozzie wants to lose a comp pick for him though.

Doss is just a guy in my eyes. I'd take him back for special teams purposes but that's it. He isn't going to be a significant WR on offense. I'm interested I'm Mellette after his redshirt year basically. Only Brown and Smith are locks for roster spots and I'm not sure if Brown is a #2 long term even. We need a draft pick badly in my opinion.

I'd love Graham to come in. It fills out #2 TE spot well and doesn't cost us a draft pick. Good age and production in this offense. I hope he doesn't cost too much to add. What comp pick are you talking about? Dickson isn't going to fetch anything worth while.

If we sign a free agent we lose a comp pick. And since it looks like arthur jones is out of here we are guranteed 1 comp pick next draft

For some reason I got mixed up on comp picks. I thought it had to be the same position or something. The whole comp pick thing unclear.

I love it also. No words on the $ we save yet but we will figure out on monday.

Speaking of LBs how do you guys feel about a Bynes/Brown starting combo if Daryl Smith walks? Personally I would want us to target Christian Jones round 2 if Smith walks/

I don't have confidence in starting any of the inside linebackers on the roster besides Smith and Brown. McClain is trash and Bynes is barely a notch above him. McClellan is a solid backup and special teams player. I doubt they invest a high pick in that position two years in a row though.

I agree w/ that its just now adays u need 2 LBs that can cover especially in nickel formation. Brown should be 1 of them. What is so intriguing w/ Jones is he is 6'4 so when the game is on the line we dont have 5'10 Elam covering pro bowl TEs on 3rd down.

That's what I want for both inside linebackers too. I'm not intrigued by having one cover guy and one thumper type as the starters anymore. Both need to be somewhat useful in coverage.

I'm not particularly worried about Elam covering tight ends. He does get physically out-matched on a handful of throws but generally it's not a big deal. A linebacker like Christian Jones would be able match-up better with tight ends but he probably wouldn't be able to stick with them even though he is athletic. It's just relative to his position though. There really isn't a man-coverage answer to the bigger/longer and more athletic tight ends these days.

Looks like suggs deal is essentially a 2 year deal. I like this move overall.

And I was bored searching arthur brown highlights and found this

Apparently Ozzie and DeCosta have Wagner on par with Fisher and Joeckel as prospects. I think that answers the question if we will take a RT in the draft early

sucks to see Leach go I really wanted to see him work w/ Kubiak again. But we did save a good amount of money. I wouldn't mind McClain back at the vet minimum
