Yeah I like both guys but the cap space is more valuable. I hope the best for Leach but I'm excited to see Juszczyk in this new offense.

Ravens TE Dennis Pitta's five-year deal is worth about $32.5 million.
Good, that's out of the way. With the salary cap rising and likely continuing to increase over the next few seasons that's a fine deal for Pitta. Flacco's favorite target should be with Baltimore for as long as his quarterback now.

Monroe is obviously the biggest priority now. Man I hope they get a deal done with him so they don't have to bring back Oher (I doubt the team lets them both walk).

a very fair deal for Pitta. Especially considering he will be more important then even in Kubiak system. We now probably have enough room to even tag Monroe but I hope that doesnt happen.

Good deal. I'm happy we get him back in the fold. He was sorely missed last year. He is Flacco's favorite and a key 3rd down guy.

I'm hoping we lock down Monroe now. It's nice to have the tag available even though I don't want to have to use it.

Who are some guys you would want in free agency? Or some guys you think we will target? It would be nice to make a run at a WR

I really doubt the Ravens go after a wide receiver in free agency with how good of a draft class there is at that position this year. Bringing in both high-round draft pick and spending decent money on a free agent receiver doesn't seem too likely either given Kubiak's offensive system. I'm guessing a free safety and a center will be brought in as the main free agent acquisitions.

I like to give Jonathan Goodwin a shot. Don't know if I am putting too much into the Harbaugh connection, but I could see it happen and giving us that veteran option.

Other than that, theres really no one so far who interests me that much. With regard to our own players, as long as we get Monroe and Daryl Smith under contract, I'm happy. I want us to drop Oher, the way he gave up this year when Monroe came to the team was just sad.

Well, the Pre-season is officially upon us! It's a good time of year for teams (such as the Ravens) to keep an eye on key free agents to help boost our team before the draft.
Since Ozzie just locked up Pitta, and will most likely lock up both Daryl Smith and Euguene Monroe - the team doesn't have a ton of money to be throwing around on free agents.
However, if the team does address a weakness through a free agent, it'll be at either WR, or an interior run-blocker; either an OG or a C.
When it comes to a WR, only 2 players make much sense. Emmanuel Sanders
and Julian Edelman. Both free agents, both explosive after the catch, both would help our passing attack immediately.
On the O-Line, there's a few guys that draw some interest..
A veteran center such as Jonathan Goodwin could compete/mentor with some of our younger guys at the position.
Or guys like Geoff Schwartz and Jon Asamoah could also be worth the money due to their power, versatility, age, and overall potential.
Other flyer free agent types that could also get a look are guys like;
- TE Scott Chandler could form a solid end zone threat opposite Pitta
- OT Zach Strief would be an instant upgrade to the departing Oher
- ILB Brandon Spikes is a nasty situational run defender
- FS Champ Bailey is a big name, and could transition to a ballhawking safety nicely on our defense.

1st - WR, Marqise Lee. USC.
-- Lee is arguably the most explosive WR in the class - yet he's still somewhat under the radar. His potential is through the rough, he plays like a Raven, he's had a tough upbringing and is just the type of player Ozzie loves. He'd immediately compete for slot time with Jacoby, opposite of Smith & Brown. With Torrey Smith and a potentially re-signed Jacoby Jones going deep, Lee would be a play-making slot WR for years to come.
2nd - OG, Gabe Jackson. Mississippi State.
- With Oher leaving, and a massive hole at Center; the Ravens offensive line needs some serious work. By re-signing Monroe to play LT, that'll move Osemele to full-time RT.. With Yanda locked at RG, our LG position is immediately a weakness. Gabe Jackson is one of the most powerful players in the draft. Using his surprising athleticism, Jackson gets great leverage and power out of his stance.
3rd - C, Marcus Martin. USC.
- Similar to Gabe Jackson - Marcus Martin would immediately be in line to start as a rookie. The USC Trojan would team up with fellow teammate Marquis Lee and be an instant upgrade at Center. Martin plays with solid form, and is exceptionally competitive and aggressive in the run game.
4th - TE, C.J. Fiedorowicz, Iowa.
- Fiedorowicz is a giant. While not the most athletic, he's an above average blocker - with the frame to get even stronger. He'd help our power run game in the 2 TE sets.
5th - ILB, Christian Jones, FSU.
- Blessed with superb athleticism and versatility, Jones would be groomed to learn the ILB position while gaining some more mass his rookie year. He's solid in coverage and can track down opponents sideline to sideline.
6th - RT, Seantrel Henderson, Miami.
- At 1 point, Henderson was considered a no brainer first rounder. He's plummeted a lot since then, but there's no denying his sheer size and power. His potential is still sky-high if the right team drafts him and coaches him properly.
7th - FS, Tre Boston, North Carolina.
- Boston is a ball-hawk. The rangy type of safety with good speed and quickness to keep up with the quicker receivers.

I love the christian jones pick especially if Daryl smith leaves. I just don't think we can get him round 5. I like the lee and Fiedowicz picks. Idk if we go 2 olineman in the first 3 rounds though

5 years 55 million for LT Veldheer. Isnt that a kick in the nuts. Chances are Monroe is out of here.

That was a false report. If Veldheer does end up getting something like that and Monroe wants something similar then I agree he's probably gone. That would be quite a bit more than what I was expecting any of the left tackles to get but Oakland does have a ton of cap room they have to use so that's probably plays a part in it.

Looks like Jah Reid is in trouble he started a fight and punched security and another guy. It turns out we save $645,000 if we cut him. Idk why we don't. It him as soon as the off season started this year

They wouldn't really save any money by cutting Reid because whoever replaces him on the roster would cost just as much (if not more). Whether or not he deserves a roster spot is another thing entirely.

we could use a UDFA as a developmental guy and save 300,000. I would rather do that then keep him on the roster.

At that point the cap savings are negligible. The Ravens have quite a bit of room to work with and they aren't going to ever get close enough to the cap where that little would make a difference. They always give themselves a little cushion in case something needs to be done during the season. Whether or not Reid sticks on the roster won't be determined by his contract or any salary cap implications.

u are probably right I just hope we move on from him.

BTW we re-signed McLellan to a 2 year deal. I like the move a great special teamer that can play ILB and OLB if need be. Great depth to have

Reid isn't even relevant to cut or keep. He is depth at best and may not me the 53.

Glad McLellan is back. Good depth player on defense and good special teamer.

With Veldheer to Arizona, Albert to Miami, and Saffold to Oakland were looking better with Monroe. Hope we lock him up before tuesday.

we are at 21.9 million right now according to them. I think they factored in ERFA along w/ McLellan.

With Dansby getting offered 5-6 million a year and D'qwell Jackson getting 4 years 22 million what do you think Daryl Smith will ask for? Seeing those contracts makes me a little more nervous that he will get more money elsewhere.

Yeah that's probably pretty close. McFarland has about the same:

W/ McClellan signed, Doss non-tendered & 6 ERFAs 2 b tendered, Ravens will (barring other moves) enter FA period w/ approx $21M in Cap space
If Dansby really got offered that I wouldn't be surprised if Baltimore let Smith walk and get a bigger contract elsewhere. That seems like a lot of money and Smith would probably get nearly as much as he proved he could still play pretty well last season and is actually a bit younger than Dansby. The Ravens will have a good chunk of cap space this offseason though even if/when Monroe is re-signed so who knows what they might be willing to pay to keep their own guys. I'm still betting on a center and free safety being free agent priorities but with as tight-lipped as Baltimore's organization most of the time you don't know what they're going to do until they actually do it.

well looking on the brightside Rolando McClain wants to come back.

seriously if he does comeback I wouldnt mind a competition of him and Bynes for the run stopper duties and we take Christian Jones and let him be the cover LB in nickel packages as a rookie. Maybe we look at CJ Mosley also he may very well be the BPA at 17. The thing is a thumper at 17 would be a bad idea. Especially a guy who wouldnt suceed in the thumper role.

I have zero expectations for McClain so hopefully he can make the roster even. He is still young. ILBs are one of the more replaceable positions so I'm not stressing about Smith or taking one on the first. I'd love Smith to come back but I wouldn't break the bank for him. His market shouldn't be too crazy though.

We got Monroe for a very fair deal for us. I am so pumped about that.

Very impressed at the FO and Ozzie in locking up Monroe to such an agreeable deal. Considering the $$'s other OT's were getting, and I believe Monroe is the best available, that's a very reasonable contract. Aside from Yanda and awaiting a clean bill of health for KO, I'm still very skeptical about the OL and we'll likely be replacing Oher. I like Zach Strief of NO. A bit of a lumberer who would help out with the run game and has plenty of experience in the hurry up.

Still not overly thrilled about the Pitta deal - simply thought it was too much for a soon to be 29 year old TE with only 1 good season under his belt. And it wasn't even that great of a year. Don't get me wrong, he's good, but I don't think he's $6+ million a year good. Is he that much better than some of the other TE's on the market?

Owen Daniels came available today and would be an easy fit rejoining Kubiak. I've heard we're looking at Brandon Pettigrew as well. Neither would draw big contracts. I'd actually prefer to sign them both. Pitta lines up at receiver over three quarters of the snaps. Pettigrew can block and OD would either spell Pitta or we'd have 3 TE's on the field. I think Juice will fill that H-Back, 3rd TE role though.

I like the idea of adding Steve Smith. I don't think he'll be especially effective, but he'll give us that move-the-chains slot guy Ozzie has been looking for and won't break the bank. I think Edelman would cost at least $5MM/year seeing as McCluster just got $4MM/year.

Thomas DeCoud is an interesting name at safety. He just was cut and has been effective in the past. Falcons had no pass rush and he had an off year. Champ Bailey is a tempting name but I don't know how much he could offer at this point. 35 and recently injured is not reassuring.

Happy for Art Jones. He deserved it. Glad he's reunited with Pagano. We'll need some help on the DL. I love the idea of Peppers extending his career as a 5 tech but I don't think that's realistic. Antonio Smith would fit well but he's aged and we may want youth.
