DE Tapp traded to Eagles
FoxSports.com's Jay Glazer reports the Eagles have acquired DE Darryl Tapp from the Seahawks in exchange for DE/OLB Chris Clemons and a fourth-round draft pick.
It's a worthwhile gamble for Philly. Tapp didn't fit into defensive coordinator Gus Bradley's scheme last year, but he's been more disruptive than Clemons over the past few seasons. Sean McDermott will be charged with getting the 25-year-old back to his 2007-08 production as a rotational pass rusher.

Maybe I'm off base, I haven't really seen a ton of either Trent Cole or Tapp but Tapp kind of reminds me of a poor man's Trent Cole, obviously the Eagles did a good job getting the most out of Cole. Maybe they'll have success with Tapp.

I really like this trade for the Eagles. I think Tapp should flourish in the Eagles system, esp with the coaching of McDermott.
I have no idea what Seattle is thinking, though.

PFT reporting OG Rob Sims may be next, for 4th round pick, possibly to Browns.

Well this is a pleasant surprise and I definitely think he can be at least a good player on the first two downs and can move inside to UT on third downs, he seems like he has developed into the player Abiamiri was supposed to be, a guy who is powerful and is good against the run. He isn't going to light the world on fire in terms of sacks but I definitely think he is an upgrade on the left side and is certainly better than Chris Clemons who flashed but never did anything decent aside from stiff arming the hell out of a Cowboys running back and trucking Tavaris Jackson.

Sims being tendered for a 4th round pick was just stupid. I'm really scared for draft day.

Also keep in mind he only had one good player on the line with him (Mebane) vs. the three he will now have.

I'm a bit surprised by the move, mostly because yesterday he re-signed with the Seahawks. I personally don't think he's good enough to be a three down end, but he's a fairly decent rusher. As for Rob Sims potentially leaving, that would be a big mistake.

I don't see much Seahawk football. Someone mind breaking Sims down for me?
As for Tapp, I really liked him coming out. Surprising to see him cast off like this.

He didn't really re-sign, he just signed his RFA tender. Without signing that he technically wouldn't be on the roster, therefore couldn't be traded.
Tapp has had 1 good game in his career, back in 2007 he had 4 sacks against the Rams....he ended the year with 7 sacks, a career high. He had 2.5 sacks last year. The guy is not good, people.
I would have been OK with just getting Clemons for him...talent-wise that would be a sideways move for a player that fits the Seahawks system better. Getting a 4th round pick in the deal to, thats a win for the Seahawks.
Maybe Tapp fits with the Eagles better than Clemons. Could be a good deal for both teams, but this is definitely not a bad deal for the Hawks.

I'm surprised by the reactions. I think Tapp for a 4th is great, especially in a class like this. And I have no idea why anyone would give a 4th for Sims. He's extremely mediocre. In a class like this, the Seahawks will just have to be able to draft well (and I can very well see Schneider doing that).

I thought Seahawks just re signed Tapp. Whatever!
Tapp is the depth player as Carroll may not sure where will he play Tapp. DE or OLB. Clemons can be their rushing OLB (I believe he once played for Gregg Williams).
Trade benefits both teams and players.

You clearly don't understand how much Chris Clemons sucks, he does absolutely nothing, nothing at all. He was beat out by Jason Babin, thats how bad he is. And at least Tapp can stop the run, something you can't expect from Clemons unless some type of miracle occurs. Clemons is a scrub, basically you just got a 4th round pick.

I actually like this deal for the Seahawks. New regime getting rid of a guy that didn't fit the system and acquiring a 4th in the process seems like a good move. Not to mention Clemons can contribute some still. Not a bad move, imo, in a deep draft.

Hmm, nothing is about the same as we got from Tapp the past 4 years as well. Clemons will likely be used in the elephant package as a rush linebacker, he doesn't need to stop the run. Tapp could have been cut outright and I wouldn't have really cared. I'm sure thats the same way you feel about Clemons.

Seems like Browns and Seahawks new regimes are really wanting to put their impact on their respective teams.

That was my initial thought. If Carroll and Schneider really think Clemons make up for the difference between a second and a fourth I don't know what to tell them.

Which DE on our roster is better than Tapp again?

This 2nd for a 4th crap is just plain stupid. That 2nd rounder was wasted FOUR YEARS AGO. We traded a player that didn't pan out, for another player that didn't pan out AND a 4th round pick. How is this bad for the Seahawks?

The 2nd was in reference to his tender, not where he was picked. They could have tendered him as a 3rd or 4th if they wanted. The chances of a 4th round pick being as good as Tapp are pretty slim. He's not a sack artist but he had a good amount of QB hits this year, he's good against the run, and he was the best DE on the roster.
