I am pretty certain that no injury has ever been made up. Has there been an injury that a player could have played through-yes most likely. And like I said the kid is more than free to transfer. If he signed up to be a 4th string player for Alabama and he doesn't get that chance anymore-well tough luck. Scholarships are not for the full 4 years, they are renewable on a year to year basis.

And yet, Saban and Miles are part of a very, very small minority that enforces that. And people wonder why those two are often considered scumbags.

Yep, Saban had 12 players who weren't going to play for millions of dollars in the NFL instead still go to school for free (like say grad school in business) and still get some of the same perks as the athletes get. What a scumbag.

Saban said he didn't want his players to put the Arkansas game, especialy that nightmare 1st half behind them in prepping for Florida.

IMO that would be a good thing. The national champions got a well needed dose of humility, & the younger freshman & others players learned that they can come from behind when they have to.

More important they learned to stick to their strengths of the bal control running game & playing opportunistic defense with nickle & dime pkgs. since they didn't need to worry a lot about the almost nonexistent Hogs running game.

Baptism of fire for the Bama DBs -- Dre Kirkpatrick partially redeemed himself with that last win-sealer INT, but he has to learn to keep his feet, recover when he doesnt & how to play zone. The unexpected secondary star is now Robert Lester, the 6-2, 206-lb soph has 4 INTs on the season to lead the SEC (tied with Texas Tech's Jarvis Phillips for national lead). Freshmen corners Milliner & Kirkpatrick got burned badly in the early game but learned some valuable lessons in their OJT facing an NFL-quality QB. And McElroy most importantly gained confidence in Julio Jones as a clutch receiver.

Kudos to AUburn & Cam Newton for pulling the SCAR game out. About Newton -- he needs loads more experience in games to be the NFL star everybody was touting him to be last wk. He is a great talent but needs to learn to trust his gameplan, receivers & running game more. He is taking way too much of it on himself by running on option plays, & like Vince Young had to learn at Texas, he has to throw it away or to a safety valve receiver instead or running wide around the DE. Auburn has to face a lot of tough SEC defenses later this season & all ofthem will be looking at the SCAR game tapes, so when he runs around end they will have a huge OLB who's just as big as Newton & can run just as fast so he will kayo him, & Auburn can ill afford to lose their best player.

yeah that read option really served vince wrong when he won that national championship.

i dont really understand what youre saying here. how does he not trust in his gameplan and wr's and blah blah blah. when the coach calls a read option its what hes going to do. and he runs it really dam good. and its not like he's running it against these ****** FCS teams. clemson and south carolina have very good d-lines and miss st is also pretty good on their line as well. and i would love for him to give it to the running back more but when the defense leaves him that much room to for 6, 7 yards a play i will take it everytime. also, its not like newton has a frail body and will get hurt easily, hes a huge mofo at 6'6 250. and he's sliding more and more each game into the season to save himself from hits he doesnt need to take.

i think i covered everything i wanted to say.

Surprise, surprise. LSU and Alabama are on pace for massive oversigning. Granted, the number of available scholarships will rise for both with NFL early entrees, but it still doesn't add up.

Bama is moving D'onta Hightower to the Will LB spot & Nico Johnson will be the MLB, which is where they played vs. Arkansas:

Did you not watch John Brantley play at all before the game?

Man, I remember when people were saying that Brantley would give them a better passing game. Good call.

He's just too much of a square peg in a round hole in that offense. Maybe if Florida was more of a traditional spread team, but everything in that offense is based around the QB being a running threat. Without that threat, the offense becomes stagnant and predictable in every other facet.

I love Urban as a coach, recruiter, leader, etc. but the honeymoon with the spread is just about done. This isn't the Pac-10 where you can plug any decent guy back there at QB and have a couple speedy runningbacks and just run roughshod through people like Oregon does. The front sevens are just too good and they'll eat you alive on third and longs all game.

UF needs to completely ditch all facets of the option game and become a true spread team this year. Being in third and seven plus every posession because you ran an option-give with Jeff Demps into a wall of defenders up the middle twice in a row ain't gonna cut it.

I seriously questioned the Gators' playcalling. Going in for the go-ahead score in the early 1st qtr & they forgot Tebow wasn't playing there anymore so they call the miracle jump pass? Result: INT in the EZ. It was all Crimson Tide from there on.

Never realized it until I saw the scoreboard b/c I had muted the TV in the other room, Lundquist you know :/

High risk plays when you're on the road with 95,000 screaming Tide fans in your QB's ear & you've got the ball inside the 5? Pure genius!

Ball control issues subtracted the other Pouncey brother from AA consideration, Courtney Upshaw may have added to the early 1st team AA defense. Dareus with a bad ankle is still > most D-linemen -- he's playing angry from the 2-game suspension. Kirkpatrick got a redemption pick, played up to his potential, & on offense the Pistol allows blockers to not be outnumbered so they're running it more. When you've got Ingram & Richardson, why not?

Defensive rankings:

Criticism of the Tide's young defense before the Florida rout seems to have been unfounded: they're #1 in the FBS in points per game after facing 2 ranked opponents: 9 PPGm.

http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/natlRank.js...&div=IA&dest=O

LSU among SEC teams is 6th nationally in rushing defense, Auburn 12th & Bama 19th. Kentucky is 8th in total defense.

http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/natlRank.js... div=IA&dest=O

In total team defense, LSU is 6th, Florida 19th, & Alabama 20th.

Default Beware the road

Playing on the road in the SEC can be fatal like Bama discovered.

Note that it was in a road game that Florida self destructed a wk. ago. And it was at the Swamp where Tennessee had a W turned into an L in a close game for 13 men on the field. There's the crowd noise factor & visitors almost never get he close penalty calls either.

Auburn only has to go to Ole Miss & of course to Bama, that's where their season gets trashed. Arkansas has to go to SCAR where Bama got beat, yeah, not just lost but got beat, Mallett has that date circled.

LSU won a close one at Florida but I think everybody realized how overrated the gators are this yr. LSU has to go to Auburn on Oct. 23rd in what is shaping up to be a very big game.

You could see the problems with a young secondary when Bama went to Arkansas, it was only b/c of baiting Mallett into the INTs that they came back & from behind on the road to win. The Tide still has to go to Tennessee & to LSU with that killer defense.

Next week Lizard it's on, when was the last time Bama lost two in a row?

In all seriousness I am afraid for our team next week. Be gentle.

But will that game draw CBS coverage?

I doubt it, they will want to air the Auburn - Arkansas game. After hearing Lundquist make gaffe after mistake after bumbling bombastic guffaw on the air the past 2 wks. it's no great loss. Seriously, get rid of him.

Can't a network that's actually competent cover the SEC games?

See ya at the local sports bar, DV.

I have tickets and I may be going to Tuscaloosa, but I am really reconsidering now that Bama is coming off a loss. It could get really ugly.

Word is that Julio Jones has a broken hand, he and DJ Fluker will be out at least for this weekend against Ole Miss from what I hear.

It, uhh, means I predicted that CBS would not cover the game. And a day later they announced they aren't. You'll have to go to a PPV to see it. btw was anyone even talking to you? I think not. But if you want to muddy the water, keep up.

I have tickets and I may be going to Tuscaloosa, but I am really reconsidering now that Bama is coming off a loss. It could get really ugly.
I envy you, never miss a chance to see an SEC game live. Go, by all means, go.

The best thing about losing to SC is that the pressure is off for Bama. Not complaining mind you, it was one helluva great ride while it lasted. The SEC is a minefield & there is no dominant team this yr.

The Tide can hand everybody else on the SEC at least one loss, & that seems very likely in a more balanced SEC. This ESPN writer thinks so:

SCAR/Kentucky should be a good game. Cobb will kill us, that's for sure. But SCAR's passing attack and a steady dose of Lattimore, should get the win. It could be real close.

I'm looking forward to it as well. Hopefully we can put atleast one of these tougher in-conference games away, but most likely I'll just have to wait until basketball season.

Tennessee is on a buy this week and I can't guarantee they still won't find a way to lose.

i remember when i thought john brantley would help the gators not miss a beat...

i just underestimated the fact that we have college football's least qualified offensive coordinator.
