Goose was on with Norm a few min ago and Goose said the Cowboys have had a very good day. All three picks are very solid football players.

I think so...but our guys really like Gronkowski I think...even though he got Romo killed. Plus, we should see a lot of Phillips back there again this year.

Well FWIW, it is not the players are bad but are they really needed and do they fit?
Not one pick will start IMHO -- even the USC guy who will take 8-10 games likely if not more.
We spend tons of high draft choices on guys we don't even project to start for 2/3 years. Felix, Bennett, Choice, McGee, Brewster, Tyron, Lee, Williams, Carter, Murray .... and the list goes on and on. ST players? Isn't that what UDFA, FA and 5/6/7 rounds are for?
First and second rounders should play early on if you are working the roster properly and training them so. Third rounders by year 2. Not riding the bench as backups to under performing Vets for 2/3/4 years like Doug Free.

Tyron Smith will start 100% from day one. Colombo will be cut for sure. None of the others will start right now, however.
Everyone has different draft strategies...and for what it's worth...Choice and Mcgee were 4th rounders. And neither was drafted with the intent to ever start. Choice was a value pick and we sought a young backup QB in Mcgee. It's the 4th round we're talking here, these were not "high draft choices".
A lot of people didnt like the Bennett selection, but the intent was to move to a two TE offense and they wanted the best talent available.

Tyron is a starter. I think the Murray issue is a moot point. Does it really matter if he or Felix actually starts? Murray is going to get plenty of touches.

He ranked way down the line, but is a player. We have to at least take a Safety...

We have a bunch of a young safeties...who are good ST players. We dont have to go S. It might be a little easier for a 7th rounder to make it on at OL, OLB, or maybe WR, imo.
But we can go anywhere...I dont care. I think we'd all be happy if we found a real player in the 7th, regardless of position. haha.

I like the Smith, Arkin and Thomas picks. I actually like the other three players too, they just don't seem to fill needs to me at all. Murray especially. A good player where we got him. But to take an insurance pick in the third round at a position where we are strong doesn't make sense. Once again, not knocking any of the players at all. Carter may have been best player available regardless of position. But I would have like to see a safety at some point.
At least this draft on face value does not look near as weak as some of the others we have rolled out in the past.

We could always draft some athletic freak out of left field. Some dude no one knows of from a small school. This has been something we like to do late sometimes. Like Lissemoore last year.
