How I wish we could land Nnamdi Asomugha. He'd be such a great asset to our defense, just unbelievable.
Shame to know this could be Hines Ward's, Aaron Smith's, James Farrior's, and Flozell Adams' last game. I really hope they all come back next year and we have another good year, but who knows.

Can't win when you turn the ball over. Kicked ourselves in the foot and they capitalized. They wanted it more. I loved the heart and fight we had, we just couldn't get it done.

I wish we'd make a move for these players, our team could be so, so, so good if we had them. But we never do.
I hate feeling like this, because I just come up with ridiculous ideas of what we should do, but oh well. Nothing I can do, got to try and manage my sadness.

We could be seeing a huge defensive overhaul in the next two years. Smith, Hampton, Keisel, Harrison, Farrior, Clark, Taylor, McFadden, Polamalu, all starters and all will be at least 30 next year.
Offensively, the overhaul already happened, only thing we're missing is O-line pieces. 28 year old QB, 23 year old RB, 28 year old TE, 24 year old receiver, 23 year old receiver, 22 year old receiver, 23 year old FB, 21 year old C.
Offense is set for the future, defense not so much. Other than Woodley, Timmons, Worilds, and Hood, we have no pieces for the future. At all. *** isn't a key future piece, neither is Mundy, or Keenan Lewis, or any other guy for that matter. I don't think Stevenson Sylvester will ever be a starter, just hoping Crezdon Butler can turn into a good CB.
If such an overhaul were to happen, would you guys prefer to rebuild for the 3-4, or allow Tomlin to switch to a 4-3?
The few young guys we have are pretty darn good fits for a 4-3, with Hood as a DT, Woodley and Worilds as DE's, and Timmons as an OLB.
Not saying it'll happen for sure, but just a thought.

I don't know I think Sylvester will start to see a lot more playing time next year.
We need a major defensive draft. We have been drafting defensive players just not hitting the head on the nail with most of them. the last 4/5 dbs we drafted you'd think one would turn out decent.

On to the positives:
1: Wallace, Sanders and Brown are all going to be studs for years to come. If Sweed can get healthy, that is the WR's sorted for at least the next few years.
2: Keenan Lewis played his ass off on special teams, might not be in the future plans, but he showed allot of heart last night.
3: Ziggy Hood has improved allot, wouldnt be suprised if he keeps a starting role next year.
4: Aikman called Pouncey the best rookie olineman he has ever seen, i agree.
5: Hopefully the terrible play of the DB's and Oline will highlight the fact that they need to be adressed in the draft/free agency.
6: Even more hopefully, the inept playcalling of Bruce Arians highlighted the fact that he is terrible and should be replaced (stoned to death).

Big props to Legursky who kept Raji in check all game long.
Big smack to Kemo who was constantly getting pushed back into the pocket.
Scott and Foster went unnoticed by me, usually being a good sign.
Adams was dinged up but kept on playing. Poor dude, he wanted it so much.

I'd add one more:
7. I had never seen Mendenhall run with so much conviction. That costly fumble really leaves a bad taste in the mouth when in reality it was a terrific game for him. He only fumbled twice in 320+ runs during the regular season, so it's not a huge problem. If he run like that game in an game out, we're going to gave a very good offense next year. He'll force defenses to stack up front.

One player I would LOVE to get is Champ Bailey. I read he is not going to resign with Denver and he possibly wants to play for a contender. If we talk to him and show him the love, while giving him decent money, I think we could land him. If we land him, resign Ike, draft a stud corner in round 1 or 2, then move BMac to nickle, we could have a very good secondary with our pass rush. I just hope the Rooneys and Colbert do that.

I like it. IMO, Ahmad Black would be the perfect extra nickel DB for us. Not a huge guy, but he's got good awareness and always seems to make a play.

Agreed. He's kinda old so I don't think he'll get a huge deal anyways, but he'd be perfect opposite Ike. He still plays at a very high level.

Also, the Cardinals are formally pursuing Keith Butler to be their defensive coordinator. Sources within the Steelers organization believe he will take the job.

He'll only be 33, which isn't bad. I'd LOVE to have Champ here. If he goes for the money, goodbye and we can go after another corner, but if he wants to win, sign him for anything since he'll be one of the second tier guys IMO.
