Why the hate on Bulbasaur? He owns the first 3 gyms, and is the only good grass type. The only time you would need a fire is the fourth gym and in the elite four. Even against Erica you could dominate with a flying. Plus Vulpix/Growlithe and Flareon are not far after Celadon. You can even get them before. I get Charizard and Blastoise look cool, but in terms of type advantages, they don't have nearly as many plus they have more significant weaknesses.

If you are on an emulator, have fun trying to evolve Kadabra. Same with Machoke or Graveler.

There's a VBA link emulator you can get but being able to run two at once gets kinda complicated. That's what I used to speed up level growth in Fire Red and Emerald.

I blew Red out the last time I played except for Snorlax. My Aerodactyl battle hard but finally, it became a "Rest fest" between Snorlax and my Ursaring. He used Snore, I used Sleep Talk....he ran out of PP on Rest first.

I'm playing on an emulator, so i can ffwd lots of ish. I just started it a few days ago, actual time i wasted would be more around eight hours.
