I really think Eugene Parker is ******* this up. The guys slotted before and behind Suh have signed and the guideline for a deal is there. The Bradford/Stafford contracts are slightly bumped up because of the QB premium as well. I highly doubt the Lions are lowballing him and we didn't have a problem getting Stafford in camp. Eugene Parker is a *****.
I think Suh wants 44-47 mil and we don't want to give him more than Stafford.
I think a bigger question here is why the **** does the guaranteed money go up nearly 1/4th in a year for the #1 overall pick?
Because owners and general managers would rather get raped by players agents than stand up to them. If the teams stood up and refused to meet these ridiculous demands, then we wouldn't need a rookie slotting system. However, with the enormous pressure to "win now" they would rather throw millions upon millions of dollars upon these guys to avoid a holdout.
This whole situation is pissing me off. Bradford got a 6-year, $78 million deal with $50 million guaranteed. McCoy got a 5-year, $63 million with $35 million guaranteed which comes out to $75.6 million with $42 million guaranteed over six years. Suh's deal should be six years, $76.8 million with $46 million guaranteed. That's a "fair" contract relative to the current system.
