I don't have a solution to their scheduling program. Moving to the MWC is a good step. Thats why I'm not their AD. Whoever is needs to find a way to improve their schedule though. If they want to compete with Bama, OSU, and Texas, they should have to get through schedules like those schools as well.
TCU is in Fort Worth, Texas. Teams will go there for the sake of recruiting.

Idaho has virtually nothing for recruiting

If Boise State wants to get a schedule like Texas, they should schedule Rice I guess. Nebraska is leaving the Big XII. Colorado is leaving the Big XII. Texas has to play Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and an underwhelming A&M program. How difficult is their schedule really?

And before anyone says it, I know they are trying to schedule some decent home and homes to make up for it, but the argument is against Boise State's conference schedule. Texas's isn't exactly stellar either.

You can certainly tell a team they aren't allowed to compete for a title when they haven't lost a game. Give the other top competitors from BCS conferences Boise State's schedule, they'd probably go undefeated also. It's hard to put Boise ahead of a team who week in and week out plays much tougher competition, even if the BCS conference champion only has 1 loss.

If Alabama, Boise, Texas and/or Ohio State all go undefeated, would you put Boise St. in the National Championship?

They all decided that teams like Rice, Utah State, Western Kentucky, Mashall, Eastern Illinois, and San Jose State were all more worthy opponents. They have no right to complain if Boise goes undefeated and makes the National Championship game.
OOC games are usually set years in advance, other than cupcake teams. They can't just drop teams to play Boise St. It's also not their job to. I know OU has Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Ohio State in the upcoming years. BCS conference teams also play a harder schedule already. Big out of conference games are high risk and low reward, especially when you play multiple of them.

Texas' is way stronger then Boise's it's not even worth comparing. Next year, Boise's gets stronger, and Texas' conference gets weaker, but Texas will still make up for it and have strong out of conference games.

I'm convinced that Boise could go on the road to foxboro stadium tomorrow, beat the Patriots, and still you'd hear about how they don't play anyone.

If that was their only game outside the wac, yep I'd still hate it.

I want to see them play competition every week. Play teams that have actual talent.

Two games against real teams doesn't compare to what all the other schools in real conferences go through.

Boise State would probably win the Pac-10, Big East and ACC. They will go undefeated, they should go to the National Championship barring two perfect teams coming out of the Big XII, Big Ten or SEC. They have shown that they can play with anyone. Everyone thought Oklahoma would steamroll them and they didn't. Everyone on the radio said that taking the bet on Virginia Tech was 'easy' money. One image sums it up:

Their OOC are Rice, UCLA, and BYU next year. Which of those is the Strong out of conference game? The folllowing year they host the juggernaught known as UTEP.

At best teams in tougher conferences play 4-5 "ranked" teams during the regular season. It's a 15/16 week season so if you use the rankings as a barometer for "competition" then nobody really does.

In the end, Texas will still be in a better conference. Big 12 is losing a bottom team in Colorado, and the best team in the North, both of which they didn't play every year already. MWC is losing 2 of its top 3 teams. It's really a shame, that would have been a good conference.

Even the unranked teams in those conferences are far superior to the teams Boise plays in conference.

I think Boise is a great team that can compete with anyone on a neutral site. But put them in a conference and I don't think they'd stand a chance to go week in and week out with the better competition.

Just said on ESPN that Boise would bt favored in only 5 of the games that are on Alabama's schedule this year. Not very good.

Like the gauntlets the buckeyes faced in 2007 and 2008? Im sure they could handle a schedule of:
Youngstown state
Akron
@washington
Northwestern
minnesota
@purdue
kent state
michigan state
wisconsin
illinois
michigan
LSU

O and the ringer that was 2008

Youngstown State- W
Ohio- W
@USC- L absolutely crushed
Troy- W
Minnesota- W
@wisconsin- W
Purdue-W
@Michigan State-W
Penn State- L
Northwestern W
@Illinois W
Michigan W
Texas L

During the regular season they blew their 2 biggest games

I'm dissapointed Utah and BYU are leaving. Adding Boise to that as it was would have been great for the MWC and given each of those teams a few great games a year.

Utah got a better deal, and I'm still suprised BYU went independent.

2007 they had no business being the national title game. I said that as an OSU fan. The only reason they made it is because everyone else lost their last game or conference title game.

And yes, that 2008 schedule is multiple times better than anything Boise would have to play. Penn State, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and USC were all damn good teams that season. Boise won't touch anything like that.

Going 9-3 in the schedule isn't impressive, and it didn't get them to a national championship. Boise going 12-0 in theirs isn't impressive, and it shouldn't get them to a national title game.

But again it has nothing to do with this discussion or Boise. The problem with Boise is they don't have a tough schedule. Ohio State had a tough schedule and couldn't handle it, Boise wouldn't have either.

But 2008 is probably really relevant to who should play for the title this season.

Meh, like I said, Fresno State, Nevada, Hawaii, those teams are pretty good. Not amazing, but they can compete with the mid-level teams in BCS conferences. Especially on their turf. I want to say that even Idaho won a bowl game last year but I could be wrong about that. Too often people look at the name of the school and dismiss the team altogether. You never know in college ball.

Wasn't USC #1 and Penn State #3 when they played OSU? That alone is more impressive than Boise St.'s schedule.

OU plays OSU in 2016/2017. Its a long ways off, but it should be good.

You can knock the system all you want but you cannot tell a team that they aren't allowed to compete for the title when haven't lost a game all season.

I'll say it again: YOU DO NOT PUNISH BOISE STATE FOR A WEAK SCHEDULE AND THEN REWARD THE SCHOOLS THAT ARE TOO AFRAID TO PLAY THE BRONCOS. Every elite team in college football had the opportunity to knock Boise State out of the national championship picture themselves and they all passed. They all decided that teams like Rice, Utah State, Western Kentucky, Mashall, Eastern Illinois, and San Jose State were all more worthy opponents. They have no right to complain if Boise goes undefeated and makes the National Championship game.

Tell that to the 2004 Auburn Tigers who went undefeated and didn't have a shot at the national title....

Yes, and Wisconsin was top 10 on the road.

You never know in college ball.
Those teams arn't anything compared to getting through a conference schedule of a major program. If those are the strongest games, the schedule is a joke.

I know I'm excited by it. I love that OSU has a pretty good program scheduled for a home and home for a long time. Games against Texas, USC, Miami, Oklahoma, and Virginia Tech are all exciting out of conference games.

And adding one of them to a Big Ten schedule is actually a strong schedule. Adding Virginia Tech to the wac is not.

The reason Auburn got left out was because their OOC schedule was weak that year... despite going undefeated running the gauntlet that is the SEC...

Auburn was punished for playing a weak OOC schedule... yet all the fuss is about rewarding teams that go undefeated in conferences that Mississippi St. would go undefeated in...

But hey, at least we got to see Oklahoma get blown out 55-19 in the title game...

Don't dismiss them like they're nothing though. How many big name BCS opponents does Fresno State have to kill for people to respect them? I think Fresno State has an above .500 record this decade against BCS opponents and the vast majority of those were on the road.

My opinion is this. If a BCS conference team goes undefeated they should absolutely get in over Boise. But once you lose that first game you've lost all right to complain.
