McCoy and Price may not get many sacks this year, but they are going to open up opportunities for our DE's and get a lot of pressure on QB's.
Our 2 OLB's, Hayes and Black are going to be future pro bowlers, and are a key to our defense. If I'm Mark Domink, I'd look to lock up both Hayes and Black long term before I ink Barret Ruud. Ruud will rack up tackles, but he isn't a playmaker like Hayes and Black. We can live without Barrett Ruud in the future, as MLB isn't as important in our defense as OLB's.
The secondary was great. Talib gambled on that 4th and 4 and went for the breakup/int, but missed. Other than that, great performance and really, if it werent for that, we would have had a shut out.
On offense, the o-line did a much better job in pass protection, not allowing a sack. however, could have done a better job in the run game.
Freeman looks like the real deal. He looks so much more comfortable in the pocket and when the play breaks down, he can run for big gains on the ground. Also, he is a beast to sack, hence that 40 yd strike to Winslow where he broke 2 sacks and then delivered a bullet. He sees the field so much better than he did a year ago. He did only complete 12-24 today, but I think the playcalling should have recquired more easier and shorter throws, being up 20-7 and all in the 4th and with the defense dominating, more crossing routes and slants for easire completions would have lead to longer drives.
Running game needs to improve. Carolina's d-line is a weakness as they don't have big dt's that will stuff the run.
Next week, I really think we have a great chance to win. Special Teams and defense will be a key because Pittsburgh has been awful offensively and their passing game doesn't scare ANYONE with out Ben. We contained Stewart and Williams, so I think we can contain Mendanhall, especially at home. We need to keep on playing great special teams, as that is what sparked the steelers today.
Offensively, we need to protect the football. The Steelers are only winning on turnovers and playing great defense. Their offense is no where to be found and honestly, the Bucs can win next sunday by only scoring 10-16 points i believe.
Early prediction: 13-6 Tampa Bay. I think Home-field advantage and a motivated Tampa Bay Bucs team will prevail in a defensive battle. This Bucs team is feeding off all the negativity from the media and is earning some respect. To gain that respect, 3-0 heading into the bye week will make others think, who is this team?
