It's all about Ohio St. now & nobody else but ....... bet the ranch on it. They had the good fortune to be playing the Big 10's designated basketball school today in FB.
Look at their remaining schedule compared to everyone else.

The BCS has been so kind to Ohio State in the past that I think there is this built in assumption with their fans that they will always get the breaks.
Also, the computer rankings have nothing to do with the polls. Unless you think Sagarin is just basing his formula off of what Terry Bradshaw thinks.

By the way, in my latest update I've got Ohio State-Oregon in the title game (although I'm waiting on LSU-Florida). But I wouldn't be shocked if Oklahoma was ahead in the polls due to SOS to this point. I think by the end of the year if both won out, Oklahoma would get the nod, particularly with the added value of a win over Nebraska in the B12 title game.
Oddly enough, tonight's Miami-FSU game should add to the equation as well. See ACC, you are still relevant.

Still though there are two human polls, each of which count just as much as the computers.

If Ohio state runs the table they will be in the national championship.
LSU and Auburn will both obviously make it if they go undefeated. Seems unlikely either of them make it thru a brutal schedule. I think Oregon drops one at this point as well.
I still like Bama to win the SEC. I'd still put them in over Boise if that happens, their schedule is simply brutal.
I think the most likely scenario is Ohio State vs. Oklahoma for the national title. That said, there's still a ton of football left and anything can happen.

If going undefeated in 2001, going undefeated in 2006, and being one of the last 2 1-loss teams in 2007. then yes, the BCS has given Ohio State all the breaks. How kind of the BCS to allow Ohio State to go to those National Titles.

Oregon is going to hang 50 with a backup qb. I know it's against Wazzu but still.
Note: I am not arguing Oregon vs. Ohio State just pointing out the mere dominance of their offense.

Of course, but we're talking about a scenario in which there are three undefeated teams.
So, let's say that Ohio State is still #1 in both polls. There's still no way in hell they will get all of the #1 votes, which means the value of the human polls will be split up pretty evenly. You can't necessarily say the same for the computers, which are much less subjective.
I can't really explain it more than that without typing up 5-6 pages, but a quick google search on the BCS formula would do the trick.

This is after all the PAc 10 & not noted for dominant defenses. I'm leaning toward Stanford b/c they have a rare decent defense, & Andrew Luck who will be #1 overall pick in whatever draft he enters.

All this will be made irrelevant since Ohio State is going to lose to Iowa anyway.

Meaning each poll is 1/3, with the computer being 1/3.........
1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 = 1

But, again, being #1 doesn't just automatically get you X amount of points over the #2 team.
If Ohio State gets 39 first place votes, and Oregon gets 35 first place votes. It's not going to make a lick of difference, and the computers are going to play a huge role.
And if you weren't an Ohio State fan, you'd realize how silly the Rose Bowl argument sounds in terms of swaying voters this year.

Right, but I don't understand why you think it's a sure thing Oklahoma would be ahead of Ohio State if they're both undefeated. Ohio State will be #1 in the polls tomorrow. Typically the number one team keeps most of their first place votes unless they lose. I know they'll lose some of those votes if there are other undefeated teams, but you'd figure Ohio State would still keep the majority, no?
EDIT: Alright, I guess I kind of get what you're saying now. I'm just not so sure the votes will be as close as you're thinking.

I'm actually not sure that Oklahoma would be ahead today, I mispoke about that. Like I said, in my own thread I have Ohio State in the title game as of now.
But I do think down the stretch if both teams are undefeated, Oklahoma would make up the difference in the polls to allow their computer ranking to put them over the top.
Anyone that simply says that Ohio State wins out and they are in doesn't really understand the process. But it's a moot point anyway, at least one of these teams is going to lose. Probably more than that.

Where do preseason polls come from? The previous season's result combined with the guesstimation of evaluating team's rosters. And how important are preseason polls? Incredibly important, because jumping people is not easy and it always, always favors teams that start out higher.
So Ohio State winning the Rose Bowl last year in dominant fashion was a huge reason why they were #2 to start out the year. Now, they are going to be #1 with Alabama's loss. That is a huge advantage and that is how important the Rose Bowl win is and how it does factor in and since it is up to the human element, I guarantee you it will factor in should their be a close race at the end of the season, which could and probably would put Ohio State in the National Title over Oregon. To say it is completely irrelevant is just silly. You're dealing with human pollsters.
If Boise State didn't win the Fiesta Bowl, they'd be TCU this year and TCU would be Boise State this year. TCU is at a distinct disadvantage, because they have to provide a convincing argument why they should jump Boise State in the polls, which is difficult when people don't see many of their games.

Get on the Stanford band wagon, its still relatively empty. We have a top qb and are a program on the rise as long as harbaugh is here.
Stanfords stadium> Cals stadium, if you want to go to a game.

In a rare occurence, the game will be played in the Rose Bowl. Unfortunately for Iowa, that's west of the central time zone, so they are boned.

We all love Iowa b/c of the caucuses, being 1st makes you the trendsetters. Also best mental health program of any state & they're famous for it, they had a high suicide rate & fixed it.
Yeah Iowa has to do it, & Auburn has to beat Bama to get there. Otherwise Ohio St. cruises. LSU has a shot thx. to the Tennessee fail last weekend with 13 players on the field. LSU has this killer defense full of super athletes including Peterson but their coach is a dimbulb. They have Bama at home too.
How did Deunta Williams do in the UNC-Clemson game?
