433 on attack:
Pretty standard 433 with my wingers cutting in which allows Aguero
to roam freely and puts pressure on the opposition CB pairing (3v2). Azpilicueta
will be strictly in a support role and will hold down his flank. Carvajal
has more freedom to venture down his wing and will overlap Sanchez
who creates space by cutting inside. Di Maria
is a key player for me just like he was for Real Madrid this season. He will play the same hybrid LM/CM role he played for Ancelotti this year because he clearly has the workrate/energy to cover the ground and still be threatening on the counter-attack. He'll have the freedom to either exploit the space on the left wing or link up play centrally. This role maximizes his utility while covering his lack of a right foot. Strootman
will be my regista, aka deep-lying playmaker, aka #6. He'll sit deep and have time to pick out long balls that could expose high defensive lines or incisive through balls. Since his vision is his best quality and he lacks some physical tools, he'll be tucked in between my CB pairing and Ramos
will be my stopper. Mangala
will be my cover guy.
Of course my team will be a high press team, since that is what everyone covets these days. But it's one thing to say the team will be high press and another thing for it to actually come to fruition. I carefully selected guys who have exemplified high energy and won't take any plays off. Guys like Toure, di Maria, and Aguero have shown amazing stamina making asinine runs late in matches. Along with a high press, my game will be very direct and not possession based. This is a very speedy team and holding onto possession for possession's sake won't capitalize on this advantage. My front three and di Maria will be similar to the extremely direct play of Liverpool's Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, and Coutinho, respectively, this season. Yaya will be my box-to-box midfielder who lingers outside the box and makes late runs into the box on counter attacks. His long shots are world class and with defenders panicking to manage the speed of my attacking 4, he'll be all alone for pull back passes as he storms into the box late.
The attack is pretty much modeled after Liverpool and RB Salzburg from the 2013-2014 season.
