The way Aaron Hernandez is playing, combine that with Edelman and Welker underneath and I think they'll be fine in the red zone...
Brady won 3 super bowls without a big name receiver (Brown was solid but not amazing.)

There's little point in comparing the Pats to their early 2000s counterparts. They have one of the worst defenses in the league, they aren't going to win a title with that old formula anytime soon.

What did Simmons originally tweet to get this thing started?

Rob Gronkowski is a beast in the red zone and don't forget about Taylor Price who is stashed on IR i believe. Brandon Tate will probably see a lot more targets too

Uhhh yeah but Tom Brady is also better and older and has played well with receivers that weren't game breakers which is the point.

Brady still had success on offense.

When Brady goes back to sub 4000 yards, 25 or so TDs, and less than 64% completion, we can all admit that Randy deserved the MVP over him.

Exactly. Throw away this season for a chance to add a nice pick in the 90's or #100 next April. That guy might develop into a starter even. :???:

It won't even be all that much higher than the comp pick they would get.

The Pats are better without him, imo. He's become a one trick pony, and has made Tom Brady worse. Tom spreads the ball around so much better without Moss, which is what made Tom Brady so amazing in the first place.
With Moss out, we just see more Hernandez, more Tate, and maybe we get to see some Taylor Price in some situations. He might be amazing for the Vikings, but it's addition by subtraction for the Patriots at this point.

Screw you Bill B and co. Don't give him to the Vikings.

The Vikings would be stupid not to make this deal. Sure Moss only has maybe Fours Years left but to get a Future Hall OF Famer for a Third Round Pick is a good deal.

And the Pats' receivers without Moss are 1000x better than what they had when they won 3 Super Bowls, so the sentiment that their offense will suffer is unfounded.

The coverage Moss gets is what opens up those underneath throws. Look at some of Hernandez's plays and see how much he has benefited from Moss and Welker. The Pats need to score to win with that defense, it's going to be a a lot tougher to do that with no legitimate outside threat and a bunch of TEs and slot receivers.

The Pats offense was a lot worse back then too. I don't see the point of this comparison.

Why would they go after Moss? Troy Williamson is a free agent.

They were getting that underneath **** for 6 years before Moss came along. The offense has evolved and, while Moss has helped, his value is overstated. The OL was dog crap back then, it's a plus now. If teams try to take away the underneath stuff, they'll still get torched by the TEs and Brandon Tate.

NOOOOOOOO Ill have to change my sig for the first time since I got on this board. And I'll be pissed if its only a third, we get treasure troves of second and third round picks every year in the draft by moving down like two spots.

That's probably the most nonsense trade the NFL would have in the past 10 years, the Vikings don't need Moss at all.
