Default DeAngelo Williams: Will be be traded?

What team will DeAngelo Williams be with at the end of this season?

I'm hearing more rumblings about him being traded before the Oct 19th trade deadline, partly because the Panthers are terrible, and partly because they are most likely going to lose him in free agency anyway, and are deep at RB.

He'd be a perfect fit in Green Bay, but with our GM, that means he won't become a Packer.

Sure, Ted Thompson might make an offer to Carolina for him, as he did with Randy Moss in Oakland, Tony Gonzalez in Kansas City, and Marshawn Lynch in Buffalo, but we all know TT hates to part ways with any draft picks.

And that's because he likes to build thru the draft (and he's pretty good at it), but moreso because he loves to scout college males more than life itself.

They can't pay Stewart and Williams big money. So they will trade away the older one who has to get paid first.

I highly doubt they trade him during this season, although it makes a LOT of sense.

I felt he should have been traded to San Diego, they would have given up way more then anyone would right now. Green Bay doesn't make moves like that, just not the style of TT, so that's very highly unlikely to happen. They should move him, but honestly at this point what would they get? He's worth more then what I think they would get. Then again their gonna suck anyway, Stewart can take over, hell a 3rd is better then nothing.

I just felt had you talked to SD you could of gotten their 2nd and maybe a 5th or 6th in this draft. San Diego payed all that for Mathews who hadn't done ****, I don't think paying that for a proven stud on a playoff team would have hurt them at all.

Tampa Bay should go after this guy. They have nothing at RB. Maybe ship them Caddy and a draft pick or something.

They'll probably get a 3rd in a compensatory pick when he signs a deal with someone this off season anyways. I think it will take more than that.

St. Louis would probably ( hopefully ) look at DeAngelo Williams.

Steven Jackson and DeAngelo Williams, are you kidding? Thunder and lightning. It's the PERFECT situation.

Seeing that John Fox is in the hot seat and DLo is one of the only bright spots on offense, I cannot see him being traded. Even though the season is not looking good, you don't trade a guy who can win games when you're on the hot seat.

Now, if the organization goes around Fox...that's a different story. Cash in if possible. They have JStew.

No way in hell they trade him within the same division unless Tampa is willing to pay out the ass for him, and with the running back class for next years draft shaping up to be pretty nice, I highly doubt it. And moreover, what the hell would Carolina want with Caddy? This isn't Madden, and Caddy has no knees. Goodson is more then capable of picking up some carries if Stewart is made the primary back.

I was a HUGE fan of DeAngelo Williams when he was coming out of Memphis, and I was glad to see him succeed these past few seasons. New England would seem like the obvious frontrunner for Williams, having just acquired an extra 3rd and being in need of a premier RB. I think another interesting possibility could be Washington...Williams would fit nicely in a ZBS and Snyder has never been afraid to move picks for a proven player. Williams doesnt have alot of carries either, so he should have a ton left in the tank if he does get moved.

They should trade him, to at least have something in the draft next year. Probably a 1st round pick or 2nd and 2nd.

I know he has to sign a big deal, but who is going to turn down a running back in his prime, that doesn't have a ton of carries. Sign him to a 4 year deal, you'll get at least 3 good years out of him.

If they let him walk they get comp-ed a 3rd, for 2012 draft.

Yea but you can't assume anything with those compensation picks, there are stipulations. Don't they have to not address the position at all in FA or the draft? I don't know all the rules, but doesn't it have something to do with that? Granted they have Goodson and Sutton behind Stewart so maybe they don't, but I know it's hard to set in stone what they'll get in a compensation pick.

I think they should move him if the price is right. Unfortunately, we've seen the cost for good RBs drop dramatically over the last few seasons w/the increase in RBBCs and late round backs blowing up.

The Panthers really need to quit trading away draft picks. If they can get a second they should do it.

I would be thrilled if NE gave them said second, just make it the Pat's second instead of giving their own back to them. lol Honestly, for DWill, I'd be fine giving them their second back. I doubt that happens, though. It's not our m.o.

Meh, the Pats have been known to move premium picks if they feel a guy is right for their system. Wes Welker was a relatively unknown player in Miami and the Pats paid a 2nd and 7th to get him there, which I know alot of people, myself included, thought was a pretty steep price. I wouldn't be shocked to see New England send them a nice pick for Williams if they feel he can come in and establish a steady ground game for that offense.

Whats really funny is that the Pats passed on Williams in 2006 to draft Laurence Maroney.

I don't see the Panthers trading him.

Perhaps it's blind optimism, but he seems happy in Charlotte sharing the load with Stewart. I don't think it's out of the realms of possibility that he re-signs.

Why did they keep four RBs on their roster unless they had the intention of trading DeAngelo at the deadline? They're loaded at the position, it's not going to matter in a lost season if they keep him.

Hasn't Goodson already assumed the role as third down back?

That is funny. I forgot about that one when I keep mentioning the Greg Jennings/Chad Jackson error and the Clay Matthews error. People wonder why NE hasn't won a Super Bowl for 6-7 years now.... they've made a few big mistakes in the draft.

I have to admit this though: I had Maroney rated higher than Williams too. I just thought DeAngelo had so much mileage on those tires already that he'd wear out early. Maroney only had 1 year as the guy at Minnesota as he shared the load with Barber before that.

Now look, Maroney can't stay healthy (or do anything), while Williams has been pretty durable, and productive.

DeAngelo will look great in Green Bay.
Dimitri Nance and James Starks are the answer in CheeseLand.

.....If only we still had Ron Wolf......

That's kind of odd coming from a guy with a username made after JerMichael Finley, a guy Thompson drafted..
